How do I get wad files to work?

Hi guys I'm new as you can see! I'll make my avatar and sig later but for now,I downloaded a map from someone that released it and I extracted it into my SRB2 Folder.I started the game and went to multiplayer mode but I couldn't find the maps.Am I doing something wrong?

Also,when I just try to join a room in multiplayer mode,the game closes down and it tells me to get a bunch of wad files!
