A couple of curious questions

This is the first time I've said anything here in years, and it might stay that way. I'm only really here to ask a few things.

Okay, so I'm making a character wad. I know about the possibility of making custom abilities. As I pondered what ability my character should have, I realized that there was one thing I'd like, but that raised this question: Is it possible to activate your custom ability, or at least A custom ability of some sorts by pressing the fire key? In other words, this would be an ability activated on the ground rather than in the air.

Another question. The spindash ability has gotten to be a bit limited ever since that new version of SRB2 came out. Now it's either Spindash along with Spin Jump, or no spinning at all. Is it possible to get around this at all? A few variations I had in mind (mainly from thinking about different character wads I'm working on) would be, The ability to Spindash but no spin jump, Spin jump but no spindash, and no spin jump or spindash but can spin when in motion (like in Sonic 1.).


I haven't done this in a while, so any answers would be much appreciated.

OR getting under tight gaps e.g in THZ1 and cutting corners during platforming, but unfortunatly, they're not really a requirement, shamefully enough. Or were you expecting a different answer? If so, sorry for wasting your time.

Wait, when you say getting under tight gaps, do you mean it's possible to do that with or without Spindashing? Just double checking because it wasn't really clear.

You can get under tight passages with spindash only. Makes no-spindash characters cry.

Yeah, That's what I thought.
But what I really want to know is if there is any way to be able to spin only while running, and have no spincharge at all?
