Percy Jackson (The Lightning Theif) Which is better? Movie or Book?

Well, I read the book and then went to see the movie and I was like WHAT THE FREAK is this. I mean, finding pearls? The mermaid lady gives Percy them. And The Lotus Hotel, it was NOT about partying and cupcakes, they were suppost to be in a room with a updated card with unlimited money. And they cut the part when Annabeth gives the taxi driver the card for keeps. They cut lots of things and I thought Percy and Grover were going to look a little cooler then... that.

To sum it up, it's like a movie that is nothing like the book but is funny in some sort of way that I can't explain. What do you think, is the book or the movie better. In my opinion, I would give the book a 7.5/10 and the movie a 5.5/10. (I was being nice to the movie!) BTW, why the crap was it nessary to have Percy acting so stupid the whole movie. They didn't even get close to Tatarus. I could of pictured it better in my mind then the movie.

If you have not read the book, this is the first page:
Look, I didn't want to be a half-blood.
If your reading this because you think you might be one, my advice is: close this book right now. Believe what-ever lie your mom or dad told you about your birth, and try to lead a normal life.
Being a half-blood is dangerous. It's scary. Most of the time, it gets you killed in painful, nasty ways.
If your a normal kid, reading this because you think it's fiction, great. Read on. I envy you for being able to believe that none of this ever happened.
But if you recognize yourself in these pages~If you feel something stirring inside~stop reading immediately. You might be one of us. And once you know that, it's only a matter of time before they sense it too, and they'll come for you.
Don't say I didn't warn you.

My name is Percy Jackson.
I'm twelve years old. Until a few months ago, I was a boarding student at Yancy Academy, a private school for troubled kids in upstate New York.
Am I a troubled kid?
Yeah. You could say that.

Well, in this sort of situation, the book is always better than the movie, because the movie has to snip out stuff and throw in more generic action or simplification to meet the standards of cinema.

That said, the movie was still fantastic, and contained most of the stuff it should. I especially loved the Lotus Hotel and Casino scene, because it was not only made to look awesome, but it was actually more accurate to the original Greek myths than the book's version of the scene. My only two complaints was that it made no reference to the Mist (mortals could see all the supernatural stuff, when in the books it was invisible to them), and that they cut out all the stuff at the end (and a bit in the middle) that in the book was used to set up the sequels. They made no reference to the Titans or anything.

It even changed it when Medusa stuffed them with hamburgers and shakes. That would of been funny in the movie.

Anyways, what is the point of making a movie thats 60% + different from the book?

I am really interested in this movie, I really want to see it.
I'm the kind of guy who is to lazy to read books. So I would prefer to "watch" the book.

Annabeth has blond hair in the book.
Annabeth has red hair in the movie.
That makes no sense to me.

I never actually liked reading books, as most people here, so I´ll go for the movie.

After all, why take days of reading while you can spend 2 hours of action?

In my opinion I think the book is way better than the movie. I've read the all the books and in the movies they always seems to take out a few details. Well I haven't seen the movie yet, but right now I think the book will be way better than the movie.

Well I've never read the book(never found the time) but watched the movie, and I have been told the movie left out alot of things, which is not surprising since most movies do anyways, but to me the movie was alright, but if i ever read the book Id probably go with the book being better.
