Is there a way to take screenshots without the console in the way? If so can you please tell me.

open the console and type:

Bind x "screenshot"

this way, you just get screenies without a console.

You can also do "VIEWSIZE 12" in the console if you want to get rid of the HUD. It's best when making Level select pictures. Just be sure to do "VIEWSIZE 11" to get your HUD back.
Here is the level select picture that's used for Picnic Island Zone.
