Tested that this morning. You're going to miss out on a lot of interesting palette/lighting effects (leading to a VERY washed out level appearance), unfortunately, but nothing as game breaking as the issues with Cloud Convoy.

Some granted rings, but the thing they've consistently given from game to game (in 2, 4 ep. 1 and Heroes) was points. The only reason that gfy doesn't show you getting points for damaging them is because I haven't done enough research to check how the originals behaved, and am currently doing that right now.

And by research, I mean watching Youtube videos of people playing the games. B)

So far I've discovered that it's 100 points per hit for Heroes, but my hunch is that that's a little high compared to the others. No good videos for 2, so 4 may be my only hope.

I just tested in all 3 games for you and here are the results:

In 2 and 4 ep. 1 each hit gives 10 points, in Heroes it gives you 100 points on the last hit and none on the first two.

Thank you, Rumia. I forgot to update the previous post to include what all my research had found, but yours is as I figured.

I know you didn't ask, but it's a bit more complicated than that. They usually come in groups of 3, and if you get all three, then the last hit on the third one will give out 500 points.

If there are more than three in a set, then the last hit on each one after that will also give 500 points. Sometimes this is a bit bugged, for instance, in Casino Night Zone 2, if you skip the set of six near the start of the stage, and then a bit after that get all three from the lower of the two stacked sets, you can then go back to the six from earlier and find that they all give the 500 point bonus now -- it just happens that those six and the three from the later set belong to the same group internally.

Wow, thanks! I'm not sure whether I'll implement that mostly because I actually want to get on with level geometry and stop faffing around with Lua like I was during my exams.

Minor addendum, since I care not for uploading another 22 second long gfy. The paddles are now made of metal discs.

Not very exciting. Tails tends to just stand there on the pinball table, not doing anything whatsoever. I'll need to add some rudimentary support to allow him to pinball at some point.

The voting probably won't be exciting either, since this looks like a guaranteed first place.

What ratio of platforming segments to pinball segments are you aiming for, though? As awesome as the latter looks, I'm hoping you don't skimp on the former.

I dunno, DrTapeworm and Spherallic have some seriously good looking content under development.

I don't want to spoil anything major since plans can change and all that, but probably heavily biased in favour of platforming. Coming up with pinball tables is hard, but I'd say at least four are happening for certain.

Wait does this means more colors... aka more states to do for npcs since each color is one state.... But still awesome
It's kinda more like the palette change SRB2 made from 1.0 to 2.0. Granted the color palette still has 256 colors and all sprites from 2.0 and onwards need to be converted to 2.2's new pallette. But for spriting wise, it's going to be a hell of a lot easier. Just take a look at Speedwagon's reaction lol.

I for one am really looking forward to SRB2's new look it'll be receiving with FSonic and the palette alongside all the other content we will be receiving in 2.2.
