こんにちは、そしてはじめまして- Hello and nice to meet everyone

Im rather new to the forums and the multiplayer, I decide to join despite it toke me awhile on the grammar part of sign up sense English is not my first language XD

But I was curious sense one of my first lobbys I played on was rp game and I actually love rps(despite it was with pinkie pie mod, I don't know much about MLP cept the internet). Is it normal that people rp on the game?

I actually would not mind rping again I thought it was really fun in the game, specially with the SRB2 hud level.

Actually, roleplay is... STOOPID. But, if this is in the CASUAL section, then there isn't rule against this. If this kind of content is on Normal room, then report the server.

It was in there own server so, plus I don't think you can have a different wad so. Plus I would never roleplay on one of the regular servers those are left just for gameplay and Competitive. I actually like roleplay as long its not done by amatures who type very few words. Even though I prefer Japanese when roleplaying cause my English grammar not the best.

In the Standard section of the Master Server, Roleplay and Hangout servers are not allowed, and should probably be reported if sighted. The Standard room is designed for competitive and, well, STANDARD play. Any existing gamemode (ie: Co-op, Match, Tag, Competition, etc) must be played to it's goals. (ie: On co-op, you shouldn't sit around not completing levels, and in CTF you shouldn't just stand around doing nothing)

However, in the Casual section of the Master Server, any non-standard gamemode is permitted - which includes things like Hangout and Roleplaying. The rules are more lenient in the Casual room, and having gamemodes where the main objective isn't the usual gamemode goal is allowed. (ie: In co-op, just sitting around and chatting [ie: a Hangout server] is permitted in Casual.)

Although I question why people would want to Roleplay in a game like SRB2, of all places. But eh, I'm not too bothered about it as long as it stays out of the Standard room.

I understand why cause of mods, seen people with fan characters

I used to roleplay in this one DBZ game, and it was quite fun sometimes when you are with actual good people and not some fools, but as stated earlier here, in the MS it is not allowed and in the forums it's frowned upon.

Yeah, RP is pretty normal in the casual section. I don't see why, but w/e.

Honestly some of you people aren't open minded enough. Roleplaying is a perfectly fine thing to do, I don't get WHY people hate it so much. Sure you get people with "THIS ISN'T EVEN MY FINAL FORM!" stuff running around on SRB2, but people can improve. Roleplaying takes a while to get GOOD at for the majority of people, and characters always change. For better or for worse, of course.

SRB2 is a good roleplaying game because of the /me command being implimented, and renaming being so easy. The openness of the maps and the fact that people usually make roleplaying maps eventually adds to that fact. Roleplaying on SF-94 is always great if done seriously.

For every three overpowered godmodding roleplayers you get, you get one GOOD roleplayer that knows the difference between a stereotypical Shadow rip off FC and an actual balanced, non-overpowered character. Rare, but honestly, it's great when you find them.

I myself am a roleplayer, so maybe I'm bias. But really, I've never seen a huge issue with roleplaying.

Of course, you guys can think whatever. :P But roleplaying usually is quite common. Or it was in 2.0.7, where people had maps and wads of HUGE numbers to use. So many maps, so many characters. Generic abilities, but honestly, it was great. Shame not many mods were ported over or updated or anything.

I really do agree with you, cause roleplaying special games with mods works well. If you think about no different then like Machinma. Heck SRB2 could have machinma if you had enough people to help.

Roleplay servers have a stigma attached to because they previously cluttered the master server listing, and the roleplayers themselves are frequent characterized as "stupid". This was not helped by the people who knew that it was against the rules to host roleplay in the standard room but did so anyways.

However, 2.1 makes the master server rules much harder to ignore, and those tasked with enforcing the rules there (such as myself) are more active in carrying out that task. Unfortunately, the stigma is still there, but I hope that people will stop getting worked up about roleplayers eventually.

Anyways, as others have said, the casual room is set aside for hosting RP... though you can also host a normal game there too, if you like. Almost anything can be hosted there so long as it's not pornographic or illegal, so if you're not sure whether or not a game you plan on hosting is allowed in standard, just use the casual room.

Usually if I try to make roleplay server I use casual. People should just follow the rules to make everyone happy

I'm glad the casual section exists for allowing things like roleplaying, even though I don't do any of it on SRB2 myself. I've got Second Life, or in text form through Skype, for that. It's a great way to let loose as one of your own characters, (I have original characters that are not related to an existing franchise, mind you.) and go nuts with friends.

Those roleplay servers back then probably weren't very well organized, thus causing said problems the player base had with roleplayers. The best ones are still the private servers between you and some friends, ultimately. Random people popping up can be the difference between somebody breaking the RP, or making it a bigger blast.

Excuse me for the trip down memory lane, but it used to be the case that there was only one room at all to use on the Master Server! It wasn't until Spazzo or someone, sometime after I first joined the SRB2MB, decided to split the MS into two groups - Casual, for those who wanted to have their role-play/hangout servers, and Standard for those who wanted to play the gametypes given by SRB2 as intended instead. Until then Role-play/hangout servers had to be shot down to de-clutter the Master Server list. This may explain some of the "stigma" Prime speaks of a few posts back I suppose.

...I wonder if anyone even touches the old SA City map from SRB2JTE anymore these days? I remember that was a widely despised level from the non-casual SRB2 gamers, even was banned from the MS itself at one point I think? It's been years now, I honestly have no idea. =P

It was one of those "Cool the first five times you played it" maps, that could have done with genuine adaptation to Match or Tag mode, but got used as a virtual playground by little kids who for whatever reason couldn't go to a real one.

Then we all hated it.
