Jeck Jims' Saturn Inspired MD2's-V6 Shadow & Espio face-lifts
![]() Developer Last Online: Jan 2021
V6 Shadow and Espio adjustments, all-around size increases, Pointy Sonic, and Animations. Probably an obvious update, with the new Shadow and Espio models being in the last Kart patches, here they are for Vanilla! Pointy Sonic has finally been completed with his model being included with the Wad download, but you will also find him installed here for convenience. Spoiler: Scale Increase The next biggest changed is a one of scale, almost every character has been scaled up about 10% to better match the sizes/hitboxes of the sprites.Other updates Aside from all of that, I have also gone through most of the cast and tried to polish up the walking and running animations a tad, to be overall less stiff. The longer I do this the more I feel I improve, and I hope this update reflects that. Spoiler: Background With the release of Sonic Mania, I, like several others, were inspired to start making some content again. The amazing looking low-poly work in the special stages of Mania especially, game me something to strive for. This model pack is designed to answer the what if question "What if SRB2 was made officially for the Saturn?" As such, the models are designed using parts and textures from whatever Saturn models I could get my hands on, with a target of looking somewhere in the middle-ground quality between Sonic R and Sonic Jam. The other thing about this is, I genuinely believe that a mix of both some sprite assets and modeled assets is what the Saturn would have done, and I won't be making models for every asset under the sun. (so don't expect flowers bushes. etc) Whats Included Then? Spoiler: Setting up! The actual ZIP contains all the files you need, as you need them. Simply export the files to your root SRB2 2.1 folder, start SRB2.exe in OpenGL and use the console command "GR_MD2 1" and your good to go! New folder organization? Spoiler: Credit Explained Spoiler: Update log Spoiler: Known "Issues" -Animation frames added with lua can be very difficult to make models for, ROSY is a great example of this. (NO I can't fix the hammer bounce) -An excessive amount of MD2 models on screen or in the area will cause Frame issues, I suggest turning on Limit Draw (render distance for objects) in 3D options. -Tailscd: the way the lua for the extra animation states is setup prevents Tails' tails from interpolating. To simplify, they will animated "not-smooth" :V -The above issue is also present in many character wad's Spindash states. Download Now

Would it be possible to have a seperate MD2 for Super Sonic? I love playing with a Super Sonic character WAD (it's more-or-less a reskinned FSonic but turns you Hyper upon transforming.) The problem is that there isn't a way to use Super Sonic's model and animations instead of Regular Sonic, if you could do that, that'd be greatly appreciated!

The md2.dat is present in the download for anyone to open and look at if they need to, there is NO reason you need to copy paste them in my thread. Please stop doing it.

I mean, these models, made the game look like if it was released by SEGA in Sega Saturn. Man, you are a genius!

For me, the models don't show. The MD2 command still seems to work, but the sprites aren't being replaced.

It is in OpenGL mode, and the required stuff is in the root folder, but it's still not replacing the sprites.

Some hack
|
Open the console with ` and enter the command "gr_md2 on" (without the quotes of course).

Got the problem fixed. For some reason, the files have to be in the same folder where all the replays and save data files go for the game to recognize them.
