Also, unrelated, but I stumbled across this too http://youtu.be/o3Q06KX06QM

The classic version doesn't sound "Generation-y" at all.

None of the classic tracks in that game are just genesis versions of the original.

And if I was at his place I'd take Sky Troops too for a ShTH level. There's just something about a fight between battleships that makes it awesome. Oh and the storm near the end of the level is cool too.

I hope they don't make the stage as insanely narrow and linear as the real deal is. Maybe the player could even launch Sonic onto Eggman's battleships if s/he wanted to.

It's already looking promising. I imagine designing a compelling stage for the Generations would be difficult.
When Sonic is designed to do absolutely nothing but going fast in a straight line, level design by nature is extremely difficult: Sonic is completely uncontrollable at high speeds and at such speeds cannot require much input from the player; when slowed down he's floaty and stiff, unsuited for anything more than simple block platforming.
The fans' attempts at designing levels are fruitless until they can modify the way Sonic moves.

So, I imported Peach's Castle into Sonic Generations.

me said:
This is a Sonic Generations level import. This was recorded with the trial version of FRAPS, as I recorded this on my laptop, which does not have the full version of FRAPS.

As you can see, there is no GIA rendered, and the textures are crap. The water is solid because I do not know how to make water. The camera has been modified for better viewing.

This is a very early version, and until I know how to make water and other things, Peach's Castle will not be updated.

Oh, and there is a secret somewhere in the level. It's an extra life. Go and try to find it.

This runs way, way, wayyyy better than the hub world. My laptop can run the hub world at ~15 FPS while it can run this level at a solid 60 FPS.

The Modern port to Metal Harbor seems decent and it's not unnecessarily bloated! :D
Classic seems fine too.

As for Sky Troops,
I'm just assuming that because it's in beta that everything looks linear as hell.

Wow, haven't seen Launch Base before. Definitely gonna keep track of that, even though that wouldn't have been my pick for a Sonic 3 stage. (Hydrocity was always the most memorable for me)
