It is considered official yet?
Yeah, I've just been really busy. OP updated and titles issued to the winners. Congrats to everyone involved.

I'd also like to note that while making exceptionally original things for the contest is cool and you get major props for doing so, you're unlikely to win because many players aren't going to like such a different gameplay style, even if it's done well. The maps that win tend to be the solid maps that are just different enough to be interesting without shaking the boat too much.

Well thats a whole different topic Mystic but it is a good point. Being innovative doesn't really get people anywhere much. I think this is due to major changes being something that gamers can't typically just straight up adapt to. Esentially, people are more or less afraid of change and/or just don't like major changes. You know what, I'm gonna make a thread on this topic. I want to see everyones actual opinion. Anyway, lets get ready for the next OLDC guys!

Way to miss the entire point of my statement. Innovation isn't bad. The problem here is meeting expectations. The OLDC, at the end of the day, is a level design contest for SRB2. When people play it, they expect stages for SRB2. When the author of a contest entry doesn't provide what the audience is expecting, they'll often not be happy even if the actual content is good. I'd wager even if Quickman was a perfect port of Mega Man gameplay with excellent level design, it still would have done poorly because it's so far from the gameplay the audience is expecting. If someone asks for an apple and gets a mango instead, they're going to rate the customer service badly even if they like mangoes.

I would like to note that SRB2 itself is exactly the kind of hack Quickman is. It's attempting to create gameplay that's totally different from the core game it's modded off of. The difference is that people go into SRB2 expecting exactly that, whereas people go into a level design contest with different expectations.
