A little Wad File Help

I know this probably gets asked a lot, but, I have read the FAQ, and even searched for posts, so I know how to add a .wad file. The problem is, every time I load one, it closes the game and gives me a weird error message.

I don't know if I am typing it in wrong or what, has this problem occured with anyone else?

Also, off topic, why does super sonic have a cape rather then being gold?

Also, what is the "launcher" to add wad files?

When adding Super Sonic I get:

R_AddSkins: Unknown keyword 'prefcolor' in S_SKIN lump# 4 (WAD supersonic.wad)

Thats the jist of it. It varries a few times between WAD Files.

that might explain things...
I didn't even know that was the version I downloaded.

EDIT:
Well now that I am using the final version and have no WAD problems what so ever, please tell me Super Sonic isn't just Sonic with a Cape.
