SRB2 Heroes (slooowly progressing)

@iamguitarlegend IIRC, the last files we made don't work in 2.X.X. And as for now, the project is so out of order, that I don't want to publish any sort of files. In some time, when/if we get things moving better, I'll release some beta files. I think it's safe to say that the beta levels so far should be disregarded.

So, Chrispy finished up his Rosy.wad, so now someone could add an AI battle. If they could soc it. ._.

I really dont like that your not using orginal levels from sonic heroes, those levels were fun no matter how much you say hold anolog stick up and you can win easy, it wasnt that easy it takes like ten minutes to beat each level please just give it its normal design or at least something close to that, and this wad better NOT BE FOR 1094 THATS EXACTLY WHY I HATED SRB2 UNLEASHED IT WAS ONLY FOR 1094 WHAT THE HELL WAS WRONG WITH THAT GUY BARELY ANBODY HAS THAT VERSION SO PLEASE MAKE IT FOR 2.0.6.One last thing are character wads compatible with this?

*facepalm*
First of all, getting rid of offtopic things, SRB2Unleashed was made during 1.09.4 era and was too far in development to just change to a new system when 2.0 was released.
Now that that is out of the way. On to your rant of the levels being the same.
I'm sorry, but that would be impossible as Sonic Heroes includes many things that are impossible in the current build... wait sorry, I'm wrong, impossible in SRB2, ever. These things include loops, excessive use of bot destroying to get to the next area, advanced slopes, switches that make things appear, casino areas (I will admit, that would be awesome, but not good enough for the amount of effort to put it in) and robot AI and features. No matter how you edit the code, you will never get a level like a Sonic Heroes level without going to something like that BlitzSonic engine or something. The levels are also thin and won't compliment the layout of SRB2 levels and the amount of exploration that SRB2 is made for.
There can be areas which are slightly similar to in game level areas, but other than that, sorry, no. The levels wiill not be made exactly like the levels in Sonic Heroes.

The Character WAD question though. Of course you can add character wads in, you can always add character wads into anything. All it does is prevent you from saving since you're technically cheating. :D

Okay then.
I haven't played this in a long time, so I can't remember how the levels were. I would still like to help out with the project, heck I would even compress the music for you or those silly little level theme things I did in GFZ. XD
So if you need some criticism in level design or some random sketches of concept art, I would be happy to help.

Just a question-
Is this going to work with 2.0.6?
I'm asking because I remember getting a wad that was for 2.0.4. (STH360)
Also, I haven't been reading this topic much so I would like to know how this is coming along.

Thanks for answering him, Violo. I wasn't sure how I was going to reply to him. That's because I rage strongly when it comes to debating Sonic Heroes' levels' linearity. I can have civilized conversations, don't get me wrong. I wasn't going to start a flame war or anything. I just really didn't want to feel uncertain of what/how to say.
Anyway, what Violo said is true, all of it. And the levels so far have tried to be non-linear, but they're not succeeding well :/

@Colson
I'm not even sure for which version the last file was built. But it's likely going to work in the most recent version available at the time of release. Not only that, but as versions come, I'll try to update the mod accordingly.

Why did I laugh so hard.

SRB2Unleashed was developed back in the 1.09.4 days, very, very shortly before 2.0 was released. I did actually do the level conversion, and if you poke around other sites (since I whored out all the attention on the now-defunct Wadbase) there was a 2.0 version in progress. I canned the project, though, because I've really lost interest in SRB2 in more recent times. I'm pretty surprised to actually find myself posting in the Editing section of the SRB2 forum. Brings back old memories.

Also, if you're looking for a 2.0 wad from me, you can pretty much forget it because I lost any and all wads on my hard drive when I wiped it several months ago. Unless one of my old beta testers has a copy, I don't tihnk progress would resume.

I just need to get that out of the way, back to SRB2 Heroes discussion please.

Opps didnt know srb2 unleashed was made that far back sorry for my mistake. But still violo explained well and yes sonic heroes is nearly impossible to put in srb2 format but at least for all the impossible parts replace them with possible parts, like in final fortrees with all the grinding and lasers replace with some thing possible but overall keep all the parts from sonic heroes that are possible to put srb2 thats all to ask for.And you never awsenered the question is this gonna be for 2.0.6?Better be or im not returning to this post ever.PLEASE ANSWER.

Firstly, may I state that what I'm typing is a post. the discussion is called a thread. This thread is part of a forum inside a category.

Yes. If we weren't putting this into 2.0.6 then we would be complete idiots. And also, the level wouldn't be accepted into the Releases section as it only accepts 2.0.X wads at the moment.

References to the actual levels with possible gimmicks would be good. But adding flow is important in SRB2 and doing that would firstly, make the level not resemble it at all as too many things aren't possible and secondly, would ruin the flow of the level with certain parts going into areass completely different than the user would expect. Level Design is always about symbols, signs and geometry in order for the user to not get lost, confused, blinded or frustrated with what to do. If you want some help in what I just said, go play through Portal entirely with Developer Commentary, I learned a lot through that.

Well as long as you make it for 2.0.6 that would be fine, i can deal with not having orginal sonic heroes levels just look at sa2b mod it doesnt resemble sa2b levels so i can deal with it.

I can't understand you.

Anyways, I'd like to help with this in SOME WAY. At least to help get it going again, but I don't know what I could help with. I don't sprite, and I'm not the best at making maps, but I can SOC though. I'd be fine helping with whatever, really.

Ok, to sum up the project's current condition in three words: we need mappers.
The project has been going (since the last re-birth, or what should I call it) for a year now, and only 2 maps have been made, and both need to be redone with better quality. Textures aren't a problem, I can get those in some minutes for anyone who needs them. Sounds are equally as easy. We've got some people working with SOCs.

Wow, mappers. I dunno if you count on me, but I'm still a rookie. If you want me, you have to wait a while, I'm still learning PolyObjects.

I can't understand you.
Ditto.
Well, as Colson said I also wanna help in something, because i don't wanna see this beautiful project drown in the mud because someone get frustrated, say "it won't work, let's give up" and it would be good if the mod gets finish in time.

Hrrrm
I see no reason to leave this open at this point. If Espyo PMs me with some content and reason for it to be reopened, I'll do it, but for now, this clearly isn't going anywhere. Anyone involved/wanting to be involved in this should PM Espyo rather than directly using this topic.
