Why did they remove Grey
Okie, so I'm making this single player level right? Now I'm trying my hardest not to rip off Starlight Palace or Aerial Garden (When you got a sky temple level though, that's quite hard) so I'm trying to throw in a few ideas here and there. If it turns out good enough, I'll likely release the finished project during the next (Or this depending on how fast this goes) level contest. So, here's what I got to show...

2 Min long Movie (4.6MB): http://www.supersanctuary.com/srpgp/srb2planet/srb2moontemple.zip

For those who can't do movies, screenshots! (235KB each)

Or just download a zip of the shots (1.9MB): http://www.supersanctuary.com/srpgp/srb2planet/srb2moontempleshots.zip

Shots and Movie Combined: 6.5MB

Still a bit dial up friendly. :)

Anyways, just tell me how it looks so far and I'll work on any annoyances or bad things. (Suggestions also help, I don't want this to end up being a clone of Starlight Palace or Aerial Garden)

EDIT: lol, explorer phailz

EDITv2: I went ahead and did two more vids since the last one really did not do any justice to what I'm trying to do honestly. These will be the last vids since they display perfectly what the rest of the level would be like, just with different ideas. One video displays one path and the other, the other path.

Comments Please. :)

Nice, but there's one thing I don't like, and I've seen this in alot of floating castle levels. Starry sky makes it look like it's in space. Because stars are below you.

I imagine there isn't too much anyone could do about that due to the way SRB2 renders sky. (Tile, not stretch)

Hehe. I had planned to make a "Moon Shrine Zone" a while back, but never did.

Anyhow, it looks pretty much like AGZ. If that's what you're aiming for visually, then I'd say you're good. If you're aiming to try and look different from AGZ entirely, then you need to try mixing up the textures a bit more. Look at Aero Shrine for an example for an AGZ-style stage that doesn't look like AGZ.

Exactly what I'm doing with Space Fortress Zone in my mappack. With the right textures, it'll work out.

I'll likely do that sometime after I finish up building the whole level layout. I don't do too well with textures as I tend to make a whole lot of mistakes trying to texture a level as I'm building it. (One of these days I'll make "Textureless Zone" :P) Once I'm done with the layout I'll probably retexture it. My main concern was ripping off AGZ's layout style.

Although I did use a different grass texture and colormapped the whole level to make it look different...

See, this is why I wish skyboxes were doable. I wanna say "see, ZDOOM did it!", but ZDOOM does a lot of things we can't do as well (like slopes, though their FOFs suck so it's fair game), making that a moot point.

Skyboxes in SRB2 would own...o.o.
Along with flat warping.
