I'm just curious about this, seeing as how these enemies are referred to as "Podoboos" in most Mario games I've played. Where did the name "Puma" come from?

Well, Podoboos are the little fire things WITH EYES. Pumas are the little flying things in level 1-4 and such in SMB WITHOUT EYES. Dunno How they got their names, tho'.

Wow, I considered myself to be a Mario buff, but I didn't know that. Thanks.

Wrong, Virt. They were podoboos when they didn't have eyes, too.

It's probably a mistranslation from some person who never played Mario.

Hmmm...well, I've only ever heard of them referred to as Podoboos. But I haven't heard what they're called in every single game, so maybe you're right.
