Joining Lan

Basically I have two computers that are connected to the same router. What I do is host a server on one computer and join that same server on the other computer, it has worked for me in the past on the older version like 2.0 but for some reason it's not working now. When I search on either computers game for the server I hosted it doesn't show up, it doesn't matter which one I host with? So how do I fix this?

How did you fix it? Searching for LAN games does not work at all every time I try to, so I have to use "connect <IP:Port>" instead. Turning off firewall does not help.
