I'm starting on my first full wad. Do you have any ideas of what I shoud put in my game? Any zone names?

There may be 30-35 zones in this pack. Do you think this is possible? I don't. I say this is impossible. I got all the levels set up and the music. Is this okay, or a bit too much?

Well, it's possible, just not as a first WAD. It'll probably give you something to do for the rest of your life though.

That is the thing that most applies here. If you're just starting out, make 1 or 2 levels before you even PLAN a level pack out.

Mystic Realm currently has 8 zones, and about 30 acts. If you count from when I first started making levels, it took over four years to create Mystic Realm 4. However, I didn't do that. I started small and worked my way up to something big. I made a single act, then a three-act zone, and then made three-act zones for a while, until I eventually had enough to make a pack. I upgraded the pack several times, and then turned it into its own game, removing the original SRB2 content. This process took four years. If I started trying to make the biggest pack ever, I would have given up four years ago from the insane amount of work.

Holy bullfrog, 36 zones???

Not even Sonic Team has thought that ahead.

I've, for some reason, got an experience making levels for other games. First, the Multimedia Fusion program caught my eye and I started to make games out from that. This program was really, really complicated and confusing my games didn't turn out that good. So, I stopped making those crappy games. Sorry. Then this program called Lunar Magic poped up. It lets me edit the levels from the SNES game, Super Mario World. That was fun. I made these extremely hard levels for my friends and they said they're impossible. I managed to get passed them. Then finally, SRB2 came out and I suddenly thought if I could make levels like those. I found out a way using Doom Builder and I think I could do it like the others. I like this better because first, there is more level space. Second, it's 3D. My other experiences were 2D games and they're starting to get boring and I was wondering if I could play around 3D games. I found one! This will be fun. I hope I could do it!

I'll make a small counter on my signature. It will count the number of days I took to make the game. I think 2 years is the max and 6 months is the minimum. Once I start to make or edit a game, I just can't stop and I have to keep on going. If I have alot, I mean alot, I mean alot, alot, alot, alot, alot of free time, maybe I could make 1 act each day. If I'm lucky, I could make 2 acts or even 1 whole zone.

Well, for god's sake, make sure to release your stuff publicly. I remember the time I got a level pack as an Addons submission. It was the worst thing I'd ever played, and it was so depressing, because it was obvious the guy spent a huge amount of time on it, but didn't seem to have anyone else test it at all to show him how bad it was.

So seriously, make sure to release some early versions so you don't spend two years and have something that totally sucks.

iF it's 36 3 act zones you're talking about then Bloody Hell that will take a heck of a long time but go for it! you could bet SRB2's amount of levels :D

Yeah, Emmy, I would say start with one... You may think you have the time for such a project, but no... you really don't. :P

and....I don't even think SRB2 can support that many maps...(though I know of another port that can....:P)

Let's see.... MAP01-MAPZZ, it may, but hell what size would the WAD be is overwhelming and all the effort would need to be put in it.

MAP01-MAPZZ is 1035 maps.

Yeah, SRB2 can definitely support it. Mystic Realm has 52 maps. You can have up to 1035 maps. It's just it takes FOREVER to make that many maps, especially when some maps took a few weeks on their own.

It would take at least a month to beat the entire level pack on your own with that level pack.

Assuming that each of the 36 zones have 3 acts, there would 108 maps to make. :)

1 act zones

Some zones will only have a minimum of 1-2 acts. (1 normal level and 1 boss level.) No zones will exceed 3 acts.

Door Trouble

How do you make a door? I've read the Doom Builder Manual and I don't quite understand it. Can you show me how to make a door that opens when you press a certain switch?
