What, no love for Big Rigs: Over the road Racing? Shane, you aughta be ashamed of yourself.
I didn't say I didn't love it, it just wasn't top 5 material.

Summaries available 'cause I'm too tired to post something complex.

1) Lylat Wars (Star Fox 64)

I love this game. The real start of a series I now follow very closely, great idea, fun levels.
My only gripe is that this spawned the DO A BARREL ROLL thing.

2) Sonic 3 & Knuckles

Greatest two dimensional adventure ever. Very long game to complete to the end, three mostly different playable characters, lots of unlockables, etc.

3) Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald

I loved this game so much. My playtime is in quad-figures and I completed the 'dex only recently. Hoenn is arguably the best region in the series and the trainer designs were better than most.

4) The Sims

The start of a revolution in simulation games, Sims is so expansive even without the packs and it remains one of the series' I follow closely.

5) Metal Gear Solid 3 : Snake Eater

The best MGS, it had much more features than it's predecessors, a very long gameplay time, and didn't feel constrained to the movies which is what MGS4 suffered from.

This is a tough choice... These are all great:
Count Duckula (ZX Spectrum)
Drake of the 99 Dragons (Xbox)
E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (Atari 2600)
Shaq Fu (Sega Genesis)
Superman 64 (Nintendo 64)

There is the most interesting interpretation of the original post I have seen. I was tempted to ridicule said statement until I realized that those truly are "top 5" material, even if it wasn't the same kind of "top 5" I expected.

1. Pong - It was the first example of gameplay in existence. The gameplay was dull as anything you can imagine, but it gets free points for being the first.
2. Super Mario 64 - I did not play this game, but it pioneered 3D more than any other game in its time.
3. Metal Gear Series - Introduced stealth as a gameplay mechanic, and more importantly provided the strongest step forward in using cinematic effects in a game.
4. Starcraft - It was the strongest example of balance and support of competitive gameplay of its time, and remains to be as such, still being played religiously in some countries.
5. World of Warcraft - It has eclipsed Dungeons and Dragons in notoriety and innovation. It has become THE defining MMO in existence, and remains to be such.

Capcom claimed my heart sometime in 2004 with their PS2 port of SF3, so I apologize for all the other games that got pushed down a spot.

1. Spyro the Dragon (PS1) Seriously! You all have to play this! Graphics, music, maps, physics, and gameplay pwn all other games!

Kirby shall always be on top for his fun gameplay. It's thanks to him that I started making comics.

2.Assasin's Creed (360)
An interesting plot and a puzzle at the end. Can't wait for the sequal

3.Pokemon silver/gold (GBC)
The night and day and involving time was the best thing since pikachu following you.

4.Mega Man legends 2 (PS)
sadly, the last game. Needs a PSP remake at least TT

5.Dragon Quest VIII: journey of the cursed king (PS2)
Possibly the best one since the first Dragon quest. Play it long enough and the story steals your mind.
