How i can do Smoothed/Anti-alias Sprites?

Hello, i see some persons doing smoothed sprites, as Lat' and Motorroach, so i wanna know, which is the program recommended to do it.

I recommend using the program Aseprite. It has many features that are useful for editing and making sprites. Smoothing out sprites is easy using Aseprite, here is an example I made:

Some methods might involve doing the anti alias in an automated way, but I personally apply the anti aliased pixels by hand, one by one. Here's something that explains better about it.
