Something I just happened to notice...

I've found this weird spot to share with you guys...

An odd part right by the zoomtube to the first 2D section of the level

Never mind, I noticed now a way to avoid from the short end of ERZ 2:

It was never removed, nor do you have to do anything special to reach it in single player. You only skip it in coop due to the fact that that mini-boss doesn't work well with more than one player.

I agree it was never removed, but I think he meant about the teleporting section.
Which teleported straight to the ending.
It was not there in 2.0.x, there was the same zoom tube with a green glowing light.
