Metroid Prime series

Metroid Prime is a favorite among sequence breakers. It had many glitches, mostly good. However, if you have NTSC V1.0, then you'll most likely encounter the random crash glitch*. There were also "secret worlds". They aren't really worlds, but are areas outside of the level.
Besides the glitches, the game was great overall. The beam system was decent along with the graphics. You could also connect Metroid Fusion to the gamecube to unlock secrets in metroid prime. For instance, have samus wear the fusion suit, or play the original NES metroid. The bosses were also cool.

Metroid prime 2 was a slight improvement. It too had its share of glitches and secret worlds. I honestly did not like the beam ammo system. The light world/dark world thing was pretty cool. You would enter portals to go to the light world or the dark world. In the dark world, you would take damage just from the atmosphere. To hide from that, you would have to stay under light crystal fields. This game also had its share of awesome bosses.

Metroid prime 3, the final one in the series (*sob*) was one of the best. However, even this game couldn't hide from glitches and secret worlds. The beam system was different, in which each beam you collected stacked upon the previous ones. You also got to use what's called hyper mode during any time. You have to have at least one energy tank to fuel it. When you're in hyper mode, your attacks are stronger, but after a while in hyper mode, you get "corrupted", and you have to vent all your phazon energy or you'll die. This game had a really good story line, though repetitive. You would go to a planet, find out some way to break the shield covering a phazon seed, then go inside the seed. There, you would fight some boss, getting a new power for your hyper mode, and finally destroy the seed's core. I liked that the GF troupers actually talked (and weren't dead), and that they were actually helpful in the first part of the game.

*In metroid prime 1 V1.0, the game had a random chance of crashing at two points:
The chozo ruins elevator
Pathways to the Furnace.

Also, I did not include Metroid Prime Hunters because it didn't fit in with the others (it was the only non-console metroid prime game)
Discuss the Metroid prime series and its glitches here.

Wait, can you play this online with other people. Also, im starting to like this game.
Unfortunately, no. You can only play online with Metroid Prime Hunters, but the online was pratically taken over by AR users.

Lol, hey were can I get this. (its interesting.)
I'm not sure if you can find metroid prime, but you can usually find them in most stores that sell videogames. Metroid prime 1 and 2 are for the gamecube, Metroid prime 3 is for the the Wii. Hunters is for the DS.
Also, just saying, you might like these games if you like first person shooters.

I just played Metroid Prime 3, and I have to say that its not the traditional FPS (I'm basing this off the games my brother plays), so an FPS player may be bored by the fact that he'd be going back and forth empty worlds and that he needs to solve puzzles a-la Legend of Zelda more often than he needs to fight hordes of enemies.

With that said I wouldn't necessarily recommend the game to someone that only cares about the action because they will get bored. There are creatures to shoot and things to do but they are often a distraction on what you are really doing, trying to progress through the level to fulfill an objective. (though I will say they are really missing out on the bosses)

Now since I prefer platforming and adventure games to FPS games this was perfect. Of course the emptiness of the levels started to get a little tiring after a while, I would have liked to see more working with other hunters and/or GF troopers.

I should probably try the other Metroid games, I guess the platforming/adventure is more in line with the older games. And since I like to see a good story I may want to play the other Prime games, if I wouldn't be bothered to much by 'downgrading' to analog control.

I have to admit, you're right. It gets quite annoying when you have to backtrack aaaaaaaaaaaaall the way back to some far away place. Also, I think the previous metroid primes have quite a bit more killing, but I'm not sure

I was angered that you had to kill each of the other hunters after just seeing them once. Also, I honestly don't think the GF troopers would stand a chance against the enemies later in the game. (heck, you have to escort a squad of them once, without letting them die)

If you're looking for story, play Prime 2.

I am a fan of the Prime series also. I only have the first one and the hunters version.
I beat the hunters game and am way past the Ice beam (Where I have to get the chozo artifacts and then battle Ridley/MetaRidley). I finally got a Wii so I will try to get Prime 3. :)

What version of the first one do you have? If you have 1.0 (like me) you would be frustrated at the occasional crashes I mentioned.
If it weren't for those crashes (and the fact that I'm a novice at secret worlds) I would have the Ice Beam before Flaahgra already.
Anyways, be sure to get prime 3 soon. It is teh pwnzorz in storyline.

Yeah Hunters wasn't the best. But it was the only 3d version on a hand held.
Unfortunately, handhelds don't have the power (or storage space) that consoles have, leaving us with a less-perfect-than-we-wanted game.

I guess I have a version that doesn't crash because it hasn't crashed yet. And I am at the near end of the game (I already saw the final boss because another friend showed me).

I also have a friend (Not the one mentioned above) who has prime 3. He says that it is a good game, which makes me want to get it more.

It's graphics were good though, it didn't look like the frames were made by a monkey.
