Try copying and pasting PLAY PLAY.MD2 3.0 0.0 on to the MD2 text file, that's how I got mine working.
It might help if you know what the phrase PLAY PLAY.MD2 3.0 0.0 actually means:
PLAY means "Replace the PLAY sprites with..."
PLAY.MD2 means "...the model PLAY.md2, which uses the texture PLAY.png..."
3.0 means "...and make the relative size of the model 3.0..."
0.0 means "...with an offset of 0.0."
So, "PLAY PLAY.MD2 3.0 0.0" basically is telling SRB2:
"Replace the PLAY sprites with the model PLAY.md2, which uses the texture PLAY.png, and make the relative size of the model 3.0 with an offset of 0.0."

I already have a shadow model, so don't bother with an edit of this one. I've been busy IRL with college, my living situation, and some other stuff though, so it might be a while till I get around to doing tails, and then shadow.
And I'm curious, is that blur effect an in game effect or a photoshopped screenshot? If its an ingame effect, what version of srb2 are you using, and where can I get it?
