Top 5 Sonic games

Liar. It's pretty easy to find yourself. You are probably exaggerating the camera by going "OKKGJF ICANTSEEMYELF4TWOSECUNDS THIS GAME IS A 2/10!!!!!"

Seriously, Team Rose and Soinc are supposed to be easy.

I never said I only played as team Rose and team Sonic. I played it with everyone and beat it with everyone. My 4 yr old cousin did the same thing.

Really, the main things that frustrated me was they flying formation and Team Chaotix missions.
If you die one time on one of their missions, those 80 capsules (I'm just guessing here) you just destroyed are back and you have to find them again! Yay! Please kill me!

No, at times they stay destroyed. Anyways, play challenge, thats the maim part of the game.

Funny, I always thought the story was the main part of all games.

What is this world coming to?

Besides, it's his opinion, you don't have to start an argument just because his opinion conflicts with yours.

In my opinion, Sonic Heroes is the second worst 3-D Sonic game. The first one being Shadow the Hedgehog. Sonic Adventure 2 is and always will be the best 3-D Sonic game, in my opinion. Sonic Riders is actually a very fun game if you know how to play. Probably the best Sonic racing game.

While Sonic is now sunk too low to meet the expectations of even the average gamer, it was at one time the best of the best, something that gave Nintendo's own Mario a run for his money. Believe it or not, some of the 3d games weren't bad, though most lacked content, had poorly executed gimmicks, and had several flaws that hurt playability. I will list what were my five favorite games, and give a couple honorable mentions.

(Note: I haven't played Sonic Riders 1&2, Sonic Rush (and Adventure), Sonic Advance 1, 2, and 3, Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic Next Gen, Tails Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, and Sonic the Fighters)

5. Sonic Adventure DX

Sonic's famous debut into 3d was initially very well received, but also marked the beginning of the end with its many flaws. Sonic's levels were the main highlight of the game, Tails' and Knuckles' stages were also pretty fun along the side, but Big's felt like a forced, but poorly executed minigame. It also included adventure fields which were later given tons of missions in the DX edition to make it that much more interesting. Unfortunately it isn't quite enough to stand up to the Genesis games. It also featured camera bugs, some relatively linear design for some levels, and the cutscenes didn't always come out right.

4. Sonic 2

Faster than the first and with a whole bunch of new depth, Sonic 2 also introduced Tails as an optional character. With a ton of levels, its hard not to like the game, however because it didn't support any saving, it was all meant to be played in one session, so it started to feel stretched between Casino Nights and Wing Fortress. The final boss also held on to the barely established tradition of fighting without rings which made it painful, especially for a no-save game.

3. Sonic and the Secret Rings

You have to try and keep up with Sonic in this interesting and unique game. With seven worlds each with many paths and alternate layouts to try, it wasn't always completing the level, but doing so efficiently and with style. Time attack is extremely fun to do on most of the challenges and the party games were an interesting add-on. The cut scenes weren't all bad, being somewhat amusing in some places, but a couple boss cutscenes were nearly unbearable, and the secret ring exposition scenes weren't interesting. The on-rails initially doesn't sound great but all these levels still have as much depth, if not more than shown in Sonic Heroes, its a fun game type that I hope will see more sequels; if not from the main series then part of a spin-off series a-la Sonic Riders.

2. Sonic CD

You are given the opportunity to travel through time, the main flaw is that time travel is somewhat cumbersome, but at its best its both an obstacle and a tool. Its an interesting alternate way to achieve the good ending and even if you want to do it the normal way, the special stages are interesting and fun to play. The levels all had a ton of depth and some really interesting gimmicks. The bosses were cool, but in some cases disappointingly easy, Metal Sonic is probably one of the coolest bosses in the 2D series, barring the final bosses of course. Speaking of which, why is the final boss a four-hit wimp who can be defeated within seconds using the temp invincibility?

1. Sonic 3 and Knuckles

This is spot was reserved for this game really. With more depth than ever before, a subtle but decent storyline, cooler bosses, and enough levels to make Sonic 2 look less than amazing while giving you a save feature so you don't have to enjoy them all in one go. Three characters played very, very differently and each could progress through the level with exclusive shortcuts, paths and in some cases bosses. This is also the only Sonic game I've played that has a challenging and enjoyable Super Sonic level while others tend to be easy. The only thing I dislike about this is that I've played it since I first got a gaming console and I have yet to find its match... Additionally it did have its share of frustrating areas, like the underwater Carnival Nights or the Sandopolis sand slides.

Honorable Mention:

Knuckles Chaotix had a very unique play-type which was fun to play around in and actually didn't do to bad throughout the levels. However most of its availability is limited to illegal ROMs or a very dated expansion to the Genesis. Furthermore the levels didn't feel as unique as the other games, each having four acts and all looking pretty much the same. Secret Rings did a good job of keeping the Arabian feel while giving you some diversity, this just had a glaring carnival feel to everything that made them seem identical...

Triple Trouble was my favorite GG title with more depth than any of the others of its kind, and the levels were quite interesting. However, the real reason why it gets honorable mention is because Nack the weasel made his appearance here, as did the epic Sunset Park 3 music.

Also, regarding Heroes, it wasn't a great game, but I enjoyed it. The frequent pits and the cumbersome formation switch made necessary by many areas made it pretty difficult though.

Triple Trouble was awesome. God I loved that train. But does a water level deserve to be the 2nd to last Zone? Anyways, I loved how Sonic and Tails had differences. Tails with the Sub, Sonic with the board thing. I miss Fang, he should be an antagonists/Playable character for another game. Say, another racing game. The special stages kicked ass, and watching Fang explode on his first try is hilarious. I must admit, he is fast as hell in SD2.

Yeah, actually play the game. Meaning, don't be a prick about the glitches, get used to the controls, and love the game for what it is.
I will note that I did play the game, got the final ending with all the emeralds, etc., and it was completely terrible and I've never bought a Sonic game again. Sonic Heroes was the game that finally got me to give up on Sonic ever being good again, that's how much I hated it. So yes, I got used to the controls, got over the horrible glitches, and still hated the game extensively.

Now, my top three is basically the same as everyone else, but the next two might be weird for some people:

1. Sonic 3K
2. Sonic CD
3. Sonic 2
4. Sonic 1
5. Sonic Advance

Eh? Sonic 1 is 4th? I always see people put it s the worst, because of the lack of spindash. I somehow find CD to be at the end, rather than the top 2.

1. Fighters

2. Heroes

3. Riders

4. CD

5. Sonic 2

Whoo generic thread. Now generic posts.

Number One - Sonic Heroes
It's just awesome. An actual 3D Sonic with speed.

Number Two - Sonic The Fighters
Awesome twist for a fighting game. Much more unique than the generic Mortal Kombat and M.U.G.E.N. or whatever the hell it is people use for fighting games these days.

Number Three - Sonic 2
It's fast, its fun, and simple. Is there anything else left to say? Hidden Palace, Wood Zone, Desert Zone, and Winter Hill would've made the game even better. Track 10 is awesome.

Number Four - Sonic CD
The time idea is unique. Level Select is perfect for Time Attack on certain time periods without the pain of finding the signs.

Number Five - Sonic 3K
...don't even have to explain this one...

Hating this post. For me, almost entirely different.

1) SRB2, if it counts. Has speed, is 3D, not too childish, works off a great engine.

2) Sonic Adventure DX. Has speed, 3D, not too childish, works off a great engine. Below SRB2 because the story could be improved, the dialogue could be improved, and the physics need 3xtr3m3 attention.

3) Sonic 1. An excellent classic that really shows off the power of 2D games.

4) Sonic CD. Time Stones were the only let-down, keep the friggin' Chaos Emeralds for god's sake. But apart from that, the game was similar to Sonic 1, but a bit more crazy. The Special Stages were really good too.

5) Sonic: The Fighters. In the dumpster compared to Tekken, but a decent game. This is only in the top 5 because I haven't played many Sonic games.

Sorry to say but, how does Sonic Adventure have a worst plot than Srb2?

I don't think Srb2 even has a plot besides just stopping Eggman for whatever reason.

SRB2 is a Sonic story that actually stays true to classic Sonic. Sonic finds Eggman, he goes on with that "hey Sonic i got a plan awesome" crap and tells him what he's going to do, and Tails and Knuckles deside to help.

Also, it seems that this topic is more interesting than the other Topic 5 Sonic Games topics. :V

Not sure, here. In my post, Number 1 is the best. I've seen it backwards before. Here goes:

1. Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Its my absolute favorite.
2. Sonic the Hedgehog. With out this, we wouldnt be in the board right now.
3. Sonic CD. Very good. Travel through time, cool intro, cool music.
4. Sonic and Knuckles. Most Challenging, however, that lock-on feature is beyond avoidable.
5. Talis' Adventure. Its different, but that is to say, its the only GG game worth buying 6 batteries for 2 hours of life, and its worth playing.

1: Sonic Adventure. I remember playing several hours in the Dreamcast from the evening to the late night it was really epic to explore the Mystic Ruins Jungle, unfortunately I memorized the whole map and now I dont get lost.

2: Sonic Adventure 2 Battle: It was kinda better than the original one because you get POWER EXCHANGE suits and play as EGGROBO.

3: Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles: 12 Endings, 4 Characters, 16 Special Stages, 15 Bosses, Nice and Simple Storyline, Ivo Robotnik is not the only enemy you face, Debug is fun after you clear game. This one goes by itself, doesnt need a explanation of how awesome it is, the simple showing of adventure is more than enough.

4:Sonic the Fighters: I like the combos and abilities characters have and the way they move but still metalsonic is OVERPOWERED, 8 Emeralds, FTW.

5:Sonic Riders: I like it because of the BOOST and the ATTACK factors wich are really good if you ask me, also the way you have to slide to get through small passageways is great (Zero Gravity Fa1lz)

WORST 5:

Sonc 3D Blast: I dont like it that much, just dont like how he moves and the way bosses are.

Sonic R: TAILS DOLL!!! RUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!

Sonic the Hedgehog (2006): Do i need to tell about it?

Sonic Drift: Seriously, what its stupid, Sonic wasnt prepared to that car, its just stupid gameplay.

Sonic Labyrinth: I hate this game!!! Sonic runs slow, cant jump, the speed shower is too exagerated, you have to collect 3 keys that cant fins anywhere, een if you have 999 Rings if you get hit you loose them all and cant get any, also the bosses are too small and again the objetive is to collect Emeralds

1. Sonic Robo Blast 2
This game proves very much that Sonic was indeed meant for 3D rather than 2D. 2D mode with Sonic requires the same techniques over and over again to make the stage be fast and still challenging. 3D mode opens up more possibilities and allows techniques like thok-then-hold-backwards and such. This game still has my full interest even after 15 months.
2. Sonic 3 and Knuckles
Um, yeah. The stages are nice and long, and there are plenty of them. Plenty of multiple paths and secrets, too. The whole bottomless stages where you come out the top (demonstrated in Debug mode) was very clever and allowed a lot of vertical variation. The Knuckles-only routes were quite appreciated. The biggest flaw in this game is quite apparent: Up, Down, Up, Down, Up, Down, Up, Down, Up, Down.
3. Sonic 2
Better than Sonic 1 both in graphics and gameplay. I really liked in one spot in Chemical Plant how Sonic was going so fast the camera couldn't even keep up with him. The game was quite challenging and managed to fit quite a few gimmicks in the Special Stages.
4. Sonic Adventure DX
This is the first time I played Sonic in 3D; that alone made the game quite interesting. It needed more multiple paths, though. D: Playing as Big was quite lame, though.
5. Sonic Advance
Very good. Has all the great stuff of Sonic 3&K, but to a lesser extent. Final boss stunk, though, and Egg Rocket Zone is sub-par by professional standards.

My top 5:
1: Sonic 2
There is no substitute for this awesome Megadrive title. It was the first Sonic game I ever played, and it will be the last one I'll get bored of playing. It had no save feature and Sonic's sprites from the prototype were better, but I still enjoy playing it even to this day. It has a lot of replay value thanks to multiple paths and race mode. jEnesis DS makes it even easier for me to enjoy it anywhere I go, even the can! :P I love running through the beautiful and detailed levels. The soundtrack is unmatched, and a great showcase of the Megadrive's audio hardware.
2: Sonic Robo Blast 2
Sonic has never transitioned so beautifully to 3D, and goes in a much different direction than official Sonic titles. Rather than focusing on break-neck speeds and doing everything possible to blow you away, it focuses more on exploration and still maintains Sonic's fast-paced style.
The levels actually feel there's more to it than pressing forward from point A to B. SA2 gets boring fast because many of the levels don't have multiple paths, just 'shortcuts'. Net play and custom content add immensely to it's replayability. I've been playing SRB2 for 2/3 years and it's still just as fun.
3: Sonic Advance :
This game reminds me a lot of Sonic 2, and it was the first 2D title where Amy was playable without suckish stats. :D Every level was fun and muliplayer isn't lacking either. The final boss and the special stages sucked, but otherwise I'll never sell my copy.
It did much better than Advance 2 and 3. Advance 2 felt 'dry' without any water stages and getting access to the special stages was too difficult. Advance 3 fix'd everything I complained about in 2, but I was hoping I could switch partners like in Sonic Heroes, and the levels felt like they were designed more for Mario, because I never felt like I could go fullspeed without getting crushed or falling to my death.
4: Sonic 'Weirdos' :P *shot* I mean Sonic Heroes
It beats SA1/2 easily. The levels are lengthy, challenging, and the combat stuff worked out great. Although I'll admit VS mode sucks, had no water stages, physics weren't perfect, and the characters were poorly scripted, especially team Rose, at least team Dark didn't sound so retarded.
5: Sonic Adventure 2
I still enjoy playing it occasionally and the story was well written. The DC version is better than the GC port in everything but multiplayer, I think.
I prefer the Dreamcast controller over the 'cube's. :P
