You could also WAD or SOC it.

WAD: Replace every HUD image with blank images. Will break the Special Stage "GET x RINGS!" display, if that is kept.
SOC: Set the HUD positions to some extremely high X and Y values.

That takes much longer than using VIEWSIZE 12 to remove the hud.
