A year ago, i wasn't good at making wads or sprites. Now that i learned both spriting and wad making, i decided to start over without recoloring/editing someone's else work.

Here's Noa. The new idea for my wad. Is also the first time i work with srb2 styled sprites, so i feel litterally a newbie.
His main ability is going to be turning invisible, i thought "Online Matches could be funnier".
What do you think about it?...

We all start somewhere. My first mod was basically stealing some textures from some folks on the MB (Bee Hive Zone, if anyone remembers it) and then ripping images off of google to replace a ton of textures. It looked horrible and I never shared it for obvious reasons.

Your sprite looks like it has quite a bit of potential. If you're just beginning though, spriting a character wad may not be the best way to start out. It takes a LOT of work and doesn't exactly offer much reward. Spriting enemies and decor is probably a better place to start.

As for any constructive criticism, I think anyone would be very quick to warn you about "pillow shading" where constant shading gives it an unnatural look. The shoes and the torso are the offenders in this case. Just figure out where the light source is coming from and then shade accordingly.
Additionally, the profile is too similar to the diagonal sprites. You want it to be completely in profile, so you'll only see one arm, one eye, one foot, and everything will be focused on the side. This will stop that little jerk that takes place between the profile and the back diagonal pose.

I knew about pillow shading, and i was sure someone would tell me about the torso. Not the shoes by the way >_>...
Usually i work on advance sprites and i did more than a big sheet, so "alot of work" doesn't actually scare me. By the way, thank you.

Well the noa does not look scary, The shoes needed to be made.

The parts of his body is brown, this wad has to be done or something.

I'm picturing a glide-only ability with blank sprites for the gliding. Its a long ways off before he has it ready to be a full wad (he needs to revise the standing pose before continuing anyway) so I wouldn't consider the ability a pressing concern.

How, exactly, would he turn invisible? I know you'd use a blank sprite, but what would cause him to go invisible?

i still dunno, i had 3 ideas: 1 - when the "bored" sprites are playing, those are blank. 2 - when he goes on the walls (like knux?) he turns invisible. 3 - when he's spindashing (probably ill put the maxdash to 0 and the ability2 to 1) he will spin with the blank sprites.

Yeah.

My only input is that the 4th frame looks like his head is stuck out forward.

yus. i fixed that.

" >.<' " is all i have to say. that's why im chosing how making him look invisible.
But isn't there some setting that lets you change what sounds the character makes while doing that?
Oh, and there's also the problem of the aura surrounding the player while spindashing.

i dunno what number makes a "no-sound", a random one higher than 2000 should be enough
but mmmkkay ill think ill make the one that turns invisible when sticked to the wall.

I think it is a wonderful idea for making an invisible character! But I think the idle sprites and idle posing sprites should be invisible as well.
Also only one complaint...Please no more hedgehogs!!
(But i'll admit ive been guilty of the same thing before. So i guess it should be...Please a little less hedgehogs.)
