Figured since there was no topic for this, I may as well make one so you guys are aware:

Take a look in your profile, you may see a new "word filter" option. Cue has graciously added the feature to disable the swear word filtering, based on personal preference. The swear filter is automatically enabled by default, but disabling it will remove the censorship on most of the cuss words (specific bad words will still be blocked whether you enable this feature or not, FYI).

Enjoy!

Well, the curse word filter used to always be enabled. This just gives the option to override it, if you see fit.

Note that this does not mean that the filter isn't there anymore. Filter evasion is still a bannable offense. I'm keeping it enabled on my account for this express purpose. If I see words I shouldn't be seeing, you will get in trouble.

Hurrah, now I don't feel like I'm in a socialist dictatorship.

Wait...?

Whats the point, you can still get banned?

No, you get banned for evading it, so typing shit right out will not get you banned.

Well, if some words are still shut out, if it's not for legal reasons... *confused* I suppose some people don't wanna see stuff regarded as racist, but I'm still a wee bit confused. Don't even know why I care.

This is a better example that wont actually evade the filter. Lets say the word "that" is a filtered word. Evading the filter would be something like this.

th4t
th*t

Even if you leave just one letter, it would evade the filter. So either type out the entire word, or just use all asterisks.

One question I've had forever, what about the suffix "-ing"?

As in, "That is {CENSORED}ing hilarious!"

To go on the previous example, if the word "that" is censored, the following is acceptable:

That
Thating
Any character string with "that" in it.

All of the above will automatically be converted to **** by the filter, dropping any extra letters. If "ass" was censored on the message board, "assassin" would be converted to "***", ignoring all the other letters in the word.

The following is NOT acceptable:

T***
Th*t
Th4t
****ing
Any incomplete character string with multiple letters that would allow the word to be readable with the filter on.

The rules on the curse filter don't change one bit here. The only difference is that if you'd like, you can turn the filter off. Type the full word or type nothing at all.

lol, the same thing happened to me when I first typed "snigger." (lol this has one of the words censored even with censoring off) Going with that example, are we allowed to evade the curse filter for a word like assassin so it won't get auto-censored?

There aren't any words that contain the term for a female dog, the URL to a shitty site or a racist insult, as far as I know, so there's no need to.

a female dog
bitch
By the way, if we're using it in a non-insulting way, can we evade? It's not always a rude word, like how ass can also mean donkey.

a racist insult
It's in the post you were just replying to. The word s-n-i-g-g-e-rs, meaning to laugh.

In addition, there are other words that are still censored for those with censoring on.
