Well, no. A good match map wouldn't hurt for an emerald hunt. Rather, skinny platforms and flat bland-ness will kill the playability for both modes.
 
Oh, I didn't think about the flatness due to I'm still adding in the Rusty Bucket. (The ship in the middle).

You could do that or just run on the "slopes", at least for the toll paths. I just threw in the paths for the sake of completion.

If it's going to be for match, you might want to include a bit more rings.

I dunno if you were getting to that or not...
 
Well, we won't really know if its good or not until it's in the contest, but at least its more open than some of your other maps so that's something I guess.
 
If I can make maps in THUG, what's stopping me from making maps in SRB2.

Unless I made one entirely out of prefabs, then shaped it up into an actual map, but then I'd have to make the prefabs.
