The Button goes all the way down to 0 HT.
 
Have the control sector (Outside the map) of the button be the same height as the floor texture, BUT make the sector which is your button (Inside the map) be a height of about +90 or something...

So if that floor was a height around the button was 100, make the button have a height of 190 (inside the map, not the control sector)
 
You cant be really sure but that's because all my attempts at buttons ended up trashed due to the fact that I could not make them work.
My last attempt was at an eggcapsal and it is garganchus in size.

Getting a good sense of scale in making SRB2 maps is a bit hard at first. I still can't get my maps to scale very well.

What do you mean?
The button will go down to the floor height of the control sector, if you used this:
Linedeff Executor: Move Tagged Sector's Floor (106)

If your control sector's floor height is 0 than the button's floor height will obviously go down to 0, too.
