Augmented Reality (AR) is basically expanding the real world by adding virtual elements. When combined with a phone, something like this happens.

Using your phone's camera, GPS is used to locate whatever it is you're looking for. Restaurants, atm's etc. Anyways, I just thought this was interesting. Perhaps several years from now this stuff will be used regularly. What do you guys think?
 
I suspect this kind of thing will be extremely common once it gets good enough to be useful for practical purposes. The ability to hold up your phone downtown in a city and request nearby restaurants and parking lots and see them against the real skyline seems incredibly helpful.
