So anyway, Age of Empires is a real-time strategy game that is based on historical times and since the game is based on historical times, it's pretty much like doing a social studies game since your playing the video game and learning about history. But anyway, let's have a awesome talk about this. Shall we.
 
I've watched my roommates play two AOE games. The names of nations, cities, and some individual people were taken from history, but they were all thrown together in a random mess of the world that told you very little of times past. Maybe there is a game mode that is actually educational? I don't know.

Sounds like a custom map. Or multiplayer. Or both.

The campaign mode is the one you wanna look at if you're looking for educational value.
