What's with the Rings in GFZ1?

Why are they floating in the circle in the air forming a hoop? Is there a reason for it, or is it just there to piss us off? :o
 
fly through it 3 times without touching any of the rings in ONE flight.
 
Nothing happens. SSN likes to mess around some times. :P

I like it, though. It's a nice scenery touch to the stage.
 
What the hell else would it be?! You get Vibrant Vendetta Zone! I'm not even kidding, guys. Vibrant Vendetta. It crashes when you use screenshot, though... I don't know why. It has the error message:

"Don't let the word get out."
