Anyway:
I would keep the current design and graphics that come with sonic unleashed,
But the old voice actors need to come back,
Shadow, Silver, and all the other recolors
needs moar distinguishing characteristics,
No more speed breaking gimmicks,
Multipathway levels
A level, character, and AI editor, which would make
for excellent netplay,
A new fresh ORIGINAL storyline,
The ability to go super in regular levels once you have the chaos emeralds,
Less crappy special stages,
Tougher, smarter bosses,
smarter enemies,
Music even BETTER than sonic unleashed's,
Moar battles between characters, that aren't horribly
scripted timed sequences that you have to match. *coughsonicunleashedcough*
Multiplayer capability:
srb2 style modes:
Deathmatch
ctf
Time only race
Co-op
Battle
melee battle(attack by jumping, homing, charging, spinning, etc.)
GIVE SONIC and co. CLOTHES
Better, more realistic sandbox adventure fields
The ability to change sonic's alignment and stats, rpg style
But no dumb leveling up system.
patches and new content, regularly updated and supported by the company
More 2D to 3D gameplay.

QFT. The only thing I see is that Ryan Drummond was the only one of the cast then making an effort (I mean, listen to Shadow in the first Sonic battle cutscene), so he seemed really good. Jason sounds almost the same, but because Drummond said that SEGA never told him about being replaced, fans went up.
Anyway, I'd just say what Shadow Hog said, with the older, momentum based games.

Yet he wasn't in the better (real) Sonic days. Sega would not die, they would be correcting a huge mistake. Sonic made the series popular and it's up to him to do it again. Tails or Knuckles should go back to being the 2nd most popular character.
Maybe Shadow could permanently choose evil and then Tails or Knuckles could murder him.
