Grab Air bubble + Abort time attack = No Transition?

I don't know what goes on internally, but for some reason, freshly grabbing an air bubble while selecting abort on the menu bypasses the transition.

Not sure if this works for anything else.
 
You're lagging and the frame the fade would happen on got skipped, there's nothing related to grabbing an air bubble related here.
