a version of the game we’d be proud to call just “Minecraft”. Not “Minecraft Beta” or “Minecraft Alpha”, but just plain and simple “Minecraft”.

Up until two seconds after the release when there's inevitably a horrible bug that makes 90% of the game unplayable again, just like every single release thus far.

Oh well, I'll happily play b1.5 still if I ever get the extremely unlikely urge to play Minecraft again.

Why aren't they on his personal channel or Mojang's channel though? That's strange.

Notch has this odd sort of habit of teasing almost everything new he reveals.

Really? Cause I haven't come across any crash bugs since 1.8.1, which was released a while ago.

Notch also said that he will take the rest of the time until the release to fix bugs, once he's done adding content to the game.

Well, 1.9 is pretty damn unstable, to be honest. I get OutOfMemoryExceptions a lot, most often when I hit F2 (take screenshots).

They fixed the annoying "snow overwrites anything non-solid" bug, though, which means I can explore old SRB2 MP server maps without fear of things getting royally messed up. (Yeah, seems the biomes for pre-1.8 stages are no longer valid; everything's turning into snowlands for some reason. Rather annoying. I wonder if there's a way around that?)

Happy Halloween! (...wait, I'm jewish, I don't celebrate Halloween...)
Make sure to try out this Halloween mod, it's really awsome.
On other mod news, Aether is going 1.8.1 in about a day, as the team making it finally realized there won't be a 1.9, which is awsome news for me, Aether is one of the best mods out there.
And Minecon tickets are sold out. Woo.

Happy Halloween! (...wait, I'm jewish, I don't celebrate Halloween...)
I wasn't under the impression that halloween was a RELIGIOUS celebration. I always though it was more cultural. They sure-as-hell don't celebrate it here, though people still use it as an excuse to party.

Halloween is a religious holiday - All Hallow's Eve, which precedes the religious holiday of All Saint's Day.

Except for the part where we now dress up as our favorite media icons and go around getting candy. There's nothing especially religious about that part, and you can feel secure doing it no matter your religion (unless it explicitly forbids this kind of activity, which is possible I guess).

I have never celebrated Halloween due to my parents saying it was a satanic holiday. I call bullcrap and I wish I could of gone on a trick-or-treat adventure when I was younger but I guess it is too late for that to happen. I no longer care about the holiday but I sure do enjoy the themes surrounding it.

Going a bit off-topic but I guess I could put something Minecraft related. Erm, I haven't played it in a while. Has anyone gotten bored of the game? I guess I'm just too lazy to reopen the game.

Judging by how addicting the game was the last time I played it, I'm actually afraid just to boot it up. I just don't have the time for it. That said, some of these updates I haven't been around for look really exciting and by the time I do end up playing they'll probably be a little more polished.

1.9 Pre-release 6 is out. The main thing added is an epic Enderdragon fight, can't help but not listen to Time Eater's OST while I fight it (it doesn't have its own song). This bossfight can go VERY POORLY without Creative mode or a shitton of arrows though... and a pumpkin to protect you from the Endermen everywhere... But it's epic. I recommend you try it out now.
EDIT: I just beat it now... Beating it makes a small platform out of what looks like bedrock with the portal leading home on it... so it catches some of the XP orbs that he drops (very few, though, beat it on the ground and not above a pit instead). Also... on the top of the bedrock construction thingie, is what looks like the romoured Egg. Pity I couldn't pick it up 'cause I'm in creative... I'll try to approach this battle in Survival mode later.
Also, jumping into the portal causes the "endgame" to begin.

I was playing with Cartographic G, a nice tool to create maps from Minecraft worlds.

I decided to host one of my single player maps and some people joined me. That's the stuff I got from the map I hosted by using Cartographic G:

Well I just bought Minecraft a few days back. Pretty fun but it takes a lot of patience and memorization. Heck I had to pull a Hansel and Gretel with pumpkins and flowers as land marks just to find my home I made inside a mountain when I went hunting for food and wool.

Torches work well for that purpose, too. Not so sure about jack-o-lanterns.

I'm really glad that Minecraft now actually has some sort of overall objective. I'm not the creative kind to create gigantic music boxes or roller coasters or any other type of large structure, so venturing in the caves and mining for ever-accumulating stuff gets kind of old.

It'd be nice if Mojang could add some more bosses, though. I love Terraria for just this reason.

Well the Giant may make a come back as a tougher version of a Zombie, so I suppose that would be like a nice mini boss considering the amount of health it had. Personally I would like to see a boss that's reminiscent of Bravoo Man from Gunstar Heroes. . .generic yes, but I would see it as a " Revenge of the blocks" sort of scenario XD
