I think it's funny how everyone's complaining about how different sonic controls in sonic 4 but no one talks about how stupid spin dashing is in Sonic CD.

I've played the demo of sonic 4 and I thought it was okay, sure, the physics weren't the same but you'll get used to them, they aren't "Unbearable" like everyone's said.

Oh, we know the spindash in CD is gimped. What about it? The physics were still intact and the level design was intuitive in CD what with level design changing subtly each time zone you travel to (explaining why some rings are in funny places in the level design at certain time periods). CD is most definitely more refined game than 4.

Even though rolling itself can be controlled by pushing left and right, unlike all other 2D Sonic games until 4? Bringing that back was one of the few things 4 did right, honestly.

Mainly because, well um, It's a Sonic 4 thread... not a Sonic CD thread.

(All you do is the super peel-out move then press down!) =#

It coming for the Wii was announced 4 months ago ( or earlier), and the trailer posted already says when it is coming out.

...I think your looking for too many fan made trailers there...
No, it was like on YouTube. Not related to Sonic The Hedgehog 4 for the 2000s, like Sonic The Hedgehog 4 in the 1990s. Like Sonic The Hedgehog 1,2, and 3.

Considering it's Dimps developing it, I HIGHLY doubt they'll touch the physics engine at all.

That would be one of the stupidest moves they've ever done. Perhaps even stupider than Werehog. Sounds about right though. :(

Well I finally have the chance to play Sonic 4. I just got an emulator opened it up about 20 minutes ago. I've pretty much come straight from the classics in terms of Sonic games. I haven't played anything recent, so I can't say how much of an improvement this might be from recent games. I'm sure this has all been listed in this thread a countless number of times, but here were my first thoughts:

- I was upset by the immediate momentum stopping when letting go of forward or changing directions in the air
- I felt like I couldn't run for more than half a second without running into a spring, booster, or wall
- I like the music on Splash Hill
- 173 rings from a quick runthrough of Act 2 with no backtracking???
- 14 lives already!?
- Homing attack isn't as bad as I thought it would be
- Physics on the vines feels awkward both when swinging and when jumping...
- The acts feel very repetitive and areas don't feel 'special'
- Why do I bounce off of Robotnik so far when I use my regular jump?

Overall after finishing Splash Hill I was left feeling the game so far was decent, but easy. The physics I definitely feel need work (yes, I know how many times this has been mentioned). The level design seems fairly repetitive and areas don't feel unique. I think I'll keep playing though, it's not bad. Just...not quite up to par yet.

Do me a favor and play Casino Street Act 2 next time you boot up the game, then you'll see how many lives this game throws at you like candy.

Anyways, I'm not really sure about how Episode 2 will turn out, seeing as the first did have undeniable issues, physics just being the tip of the iceberg.
