MellowJacket

The unreliable judge
Heya, some of you might remember this map from the OLDC a few months ago, on a whim I decided to improve the final section of the map (most of the complaints from the OLDC reviews were directed at that area, especially the boss) and release it to the forums to be enjoyed once more.

As you can see from the screenshots, this is a city themed single player stage. I worked on this map sporadically for about 3 months and was my first serious release to the OLDC, I had a lot of fun working on it and I hope some people who didn't play this map during the OLDC it was in get to enjoy it now.

Oh, there's also 2 emerald tokens and quite a few hidden monitors for you to find. Enjoy the secret hunt ;)

I was sort of in the minority for liking this level during the contest(well, relatively speaking), but it does appear to have been improved somewhat.

...I'm just going to say right now though, this level is in desperate need of some sector optimization. SRB2DB has commands for finding sets of identical sectors, merging them while removing bordering linedefs(merge sectors), and for doing so without removing bordering linedefs(join sectors).

Also, I'm amused to see that the custom music overwrites GFZ2 and the boss themes; it's not a big deal, but some people like playing a bunch of levels in one sitting, so you may want to move those to some empty slots.

For me is good, but its lose the normal form of game. One example is before the boss, have much enemys and End Levels Signs, but why thats Signs if level finish in a boss?
Another thing is enemys. Level have much enemys, and in bad place. Next time, try place more types of enemys (Example: Crawlas) in level.

7/10

Good job! I quite like this level. It was slightly confusing in some spots as I ended up going backward... but it was fun all of the same. Nice detail and design. I like the faster parts of the level a lot... wish more levels were like that... and I quite like your structures. I like the supports on the sides of the platforms as well as the spring setup in that one area. Also, nice crushing block, falling platform w/ door block, and that door that falls halfway. I quite liked those little things. I'm gonna have to say 4 stars.

I really like this wad! Good level design/platforming and all other stuff. I found a lot of the gimicks in this wad to be pretty cool too. And I like how you used a music from F-Zero GX. Although there are a few strange parts. ( The ton of enemies at the end and those fake Eggman Signs were some.) But overall, I'd rate it: 4/5
