Nothing to do with SDL2, everything to do with SDL_Mixer (which, despite appearances, is entirely seperate).

SDL_Mixer is worse than FMOD in every single way except one: It's GPL compatible. We were in a legal grey area by violating its license with every SRB2 release, although why that matters when it's a Sonic fangame and we're in a legal grey area already by using intellectual property we don't own as the basis for this game, I have no idea.

Red hasn't taken anything of Fury's over except maybe being the person on the devteam who knows the most about the software renderer, and that's still arguable. As a result, nobody is touching the sound mixer right this moment. There have been idle mutterings by a few other devs about removing a few limits again, but don't get your hopes up.

EDIT: to anyone redirected here from YevaEA's signature, i didn't actually come up with that quote myself so I've removed it from this post.

I believe Wolfy was working on his owm fork, that would have some improvements compared to SDL_Mixer.

In the vanilla game? There's very close to no reason for that (especially considering not all vanilla levels have even been made yet). For modders? We can already do that using CutsceneNum and PreCutsceneNum in level headers.

I think cutscenes were intended at some point but I think they scrapped that idea a long time ago. However, it would be nice to see some in-game transitions to each new zone after every boss act similar to Sonic 3, showing how each character jumped to the next zone. That would be pretty cool and a nice little touch.

Basically, would you rather us put in level transitions or new levels? We have a finite amount of people at our disposal and I think everyone here would rather us put that work into actual levels instead of cutscenes.

The vertical force can be manipulated on a per-object basis (note a Thing loads an object (or several), so you can't do this on a per-Thing basis (without Lua)), and the same goes for the horizontal force. Regardless, I'd love to make springs where the vertical force can be manipulated on a per-Thing basis, and also horizontal force too some time, but I don't think I can make it truly angled every possible direction and such. Could be fun to try, but I'll leave that for a later time (2.2).

Also, would being able to cancel Super Sonic be a viable feature? Or is that too far from how the classics handled it?

No taht not what i mean!
So here's an example of what i mean
so you could make a lua script that
when a song is at 0:02:35 and you press custom 1 button
and then it plays Egg Rock Music from 0:02:35 but when
the button is pressed at 0:03 of the first song the egg rock music starts from 0:03.
It could be used to make in-game song mashups.
I hope you understand.

No that means a suggestion that you can start a song from specific minute and second but as a usuable thing in lua and I just gave an example of it's usage.

So, from what I can understand from this, you could use it to make something akin to the credits medleys of the classic Sonic games basically?

Look at how Fres explained this idea, it almost sounds like you can also have a music shuffler for mid-gameplay. It could be an interesting lua idea alone.

Yeah, but Xkower8181 is suggesting a way to start music at a given time, not just start music from the 0-second mark (which we already can).
