HEY GUYS REMEMBER THERE WAS A 3DS VERSION

http://www.sonicstadium.org/2011/11/apotos-confirmed-for-sonic-generations-3ds/

So, with this last bit of info, this means...

-Not a SINGLE HANDHELD ENTRY not a port or a handheld version of another game was represented.

-All zones but ONE (Casino Night) are first zones in their games.

No idea what they're thinking.

I agree that this kinda sucks. Although DIMPS have always seemed to put at least a nominal amount of effort into their Sonic-related work, this title seems to be different, what with the very narrow level tropes and recycling of layouts. I'm sure that after pumping out Sonic handheld titles for years they've had to have lost some of the passion and/or ingenuity that originally went with the work.

Why did they not just choose Water Palace? It's basically the same thing as Apotos and would've allowed them to reuse more 2D level layouts.

I really would have loved to see some Advance and Rush levels but knew not to expect them. However, I really wanted to see stages like Hang Castle/Mystic Mansion and Dragon Road. I loved Dragon Road, even the night version despite disliking night gameplay. I'm happy with the choice of Emerald Coast and Radical Highway, but the other stages could have been more varied.

Also, two less zones?

For some reason, on the Steam version of Sonic Generations PC, the configuration tool won't run. It keeps doing the first time setup thing and then closing without bringing up the config panel. I can't run the game without the configuration. Please help!

Does anyone know about a solution to this problem? It's getting really annoying.

This was JUST fixed in an update sent out. Try again.

Unfortunately, if the tool wasn't running before, it's likely because your video card is not supported. :( But let me know how it works out for you.

^If that still doesn't work, try running the game in administrator mode or disabling the UAC and deleting the configuration tool and then verifying the integrity of the game cache in steam.

EDIT:There's also something about certain USB devices somehow crashing the configuration utility, but I'm not too sure about that. It's worth looking into if all of the above doesn't work.

I think i'm around 10-14th on the leaderboard for Speed Highway Modern. And to think, I was just, running around. Then I get top 20 and I'm like, "What".
Edit: I think I have a time of around 1:41.

Still #1, and I still can't match the insane luck I got.

Crisis City Classic is the only stage I have any desire to speedrun whatsoever.

I'm even more impressed by the fact that you have the name Inuyasha on steam o.o

EDIT: Finally did it! Rank 1 on Modern Green Hill! And I still had 2 really big mistakes on it...

Was anyone else disappointed to not see Classic Knuckles? They completely ignored the fact he was in the Classic Area... I know there was probably a reason for it, but I would have LOVED to see classic Knuckles and even Amy (Rosy.) And the absents of Modern Metal Sonic was bizarre to me.
Anyway, I loved the modern game play, if they stick to this formula, I will be happy.

My opinion on Modern Sonic:
Feels like a racing game to me, with some platform elements. It reminds me a lot of the game project powder/snowbound online, and that's probably why I like it. It's definitely nowhere near the original sonic, but I think it's still fun.

I feel like Sonic unleashed was similar to Sonic Advance 2, where you mostly race through the level at top speed with an occasional curveball that needs quick input from the player. I see Sonic Generations' Moden stages as if it was Sonic Advance 3, mostly that it involves a lot of platforming.

I enjoyed Unleashed because I was able to show it off to other people, as we are all impressed by how fast he is and how he's unstoppable. Platforming slows things down, so they lose interest fast. I guess that's another reason as to why I like the Classic gameplay better than the Modern gameplay.

I've beaten the game in 5 hours on the day that was bought, and now I'm slowly completing all side missions, finding all the Red Star Rings, and making sure I end it with an S rating. I finished Speed Highway yesterday, I'll continue on City Escape some other day.

Well Shadow and Silver were only level specific characters, so I wouldn't mind them doing a DLC of Angel Island featuring Knuckles. Heck considering that the game is only 5 hours long, It would be wise for content release(s).

I've discovered a glitch with the results screen.

Notice how he's looking at the screen (this is a normal stage, Chemical Plant).

In the results screen for the Death Egg Robot fight, his eyes glitch up and he's not looking at the screen.

The same thing happens here with Modern Sonic.

The glitch seems to only occur in boss levels.

I hope the multiplayer isn't that orb thing like in sonic colors and more like sonic rush without cheap item capsules.

I don't know how you use Classic Sonic so well, it's difficult for me to time his spindash -> jump because of how fast he accelerates...

If the genesis games were the first Sonic games you played, it should be second nature to you. I for one can't play Modern Sonic properly, and hardly ever use boost, this could be because I never actually played Unleashed other than the Aptos demo.

I've also noticed something, SEGA could have easily had four levels for each era instead of three. Genesis is obvious, so I won't mention that one, but the Dreamcast era could have had a level from Shadow the Hedgehog, seeing as it had the same play style as the other three games, just with guns (it even reused the models from Sonic Heroes).

The modern Era could have added a level from Sonic and the Secret rings, since it was made after Sonic Adventure 3 (S2k6).

And I was also pretty disappointed to not see a Knuckles Rival battle with Classic Sonic, despite him being one of the selling points of this game, he gets very little attention.

For me, it's because I played the Genesis games first that Classic Sonic is so awkward. The spindash for Classic Sonic is much faster than in the originals, and sometimes I try to spindash -> jump off a small platform, but it's literally impossible in Generations. I know in the originals I would have been able to...

I'm loving Modern Sonic even though the latest Sonic game I've played is Sonic Adventure. It really feels exactly like Project Powder (which was a racing mmo which involved boost management)...love trying to speed run these levels, but it's really difficult.
