Teleporters Dislike Metal Sonic Replays

This is while i was testing metal sonic races in ***** Zone, I couldn't find metal sonic after i took the teleporter, I kept looking around the level and even waited for metal to stop at the specific spot he was supposed to end, he never showed up. What could be the issue?
