Alex is correct. Our "Earless leader" references Sonikku, or Johnny Wallbank, who made SRB1 and is a major part of SRB2 development. SRB1's Sonic sprites have no ears, so an earless Sonic became Sonikku's avatar, as a sort of running gag.
