Help creating sprites?

Lately, I've been trying to create some character WADs and I've been reading up the wiki and all, but it tells nothing of what size the sprite should be for each frame. Now I know some sprites are smaller than others, and I just want to make my fan character as tall as Sonic. I look up the sprites and nothing shows up that's useful. If anyone could help me with this I would be very greatful.

The sprites may be any size, but if you're looking to make the sprites as large as Sonic, then your looking for around 56 pixels, give or take depending on perspective.

I'd suggest to export frames from the original Sonic character, erasing the character itself in the image and you'll get an image with the correct size.

Oh, Thank you both very much. I hadn't even thought of that. But, how do I export Sonic's frames since he doesn't have a .plr file anymore?
