Spoiler tags, and other questions

Hello, so I am a massive nub when it comes to these forums, so I don't really know much. I really do wish I was active before.. but anyways, how does one go about making a spoiler tag? Is it something that needs to be typed out or is it something that you "select"

use [ SPOILER = "name of the spoiler" (name is optional, you can go with just [ SPOILER ] with the same result.) ] <stuff to hide in spoiler>, and [ / SPOILER ] to end it.
All of this without spaces or quotes, had to put them so it doesn't make an actual spoiler.
