My keyboard won't use certain symbols in SRB2

Its been about a month and no ones been able to help so far. Is there something wrong with my keyboard? Do I need to download something to fix it? Is there a way I can fix SRB2 to allow it to work? Or do I just need a new keyboard?

The table for the keyboard mapping is static, and made with the US keyboard in mind.

Yeah but for some reason some of the symbols wont appear when I type them
