Hey, if TDSunshine made a NAMCO Character, why can't I make a Nintendo Character? Anyway, here are some things I have so far.

1-UP Monitor:

So far I only have the front and Back angles of all the animations... I'll work on the other angles later. Comments and Critique please. :)
 
The sprites are good, so is the 1-UP monitor. I'll tell you if I see any problems ( as of right now it looks pretty good =P )

Great work! Better then anything I could ever do... How about the sunglasses and shirt from the game as a superform?(or shadow mario...)
 
I think it needs thicker outlining on the sprites.
The sprites in general seem like they've been flattened vertically, and Mario's position seems stiff and unnatural.
Something about the feet when he walks bugs me, but I can't really put my finger on that.

The flying takes up the superform sprites, so he'll just have yellow water (FLUDD's water changes colors, so he can squirt just about anything, Water, Juice, Milk... yeah...) when he's super.

Ugh... stiff and unnatural? I'll try to fix that. I don't know about the walking thing.

That sprite's eyes are way to puny and far apart. And its arms are too thin, and what's up with the hands? Are those supposed to be fingers?
 
There's no lack of shading in this WAD. I think what Kyasarin is observing is that the pant legs are shaded so much more thickly than the overalls.
 
Nice job Virt. I do think that if you're using FLUDD that his double jump ability should be slowfall instead of flight, but that's just me.
 
I think he should have flying abilities. It would be the most accurate way to portray the Hover F.L.U.D.D., which your sprites seem to use.

Also, here's an idea: Your Spindash frames could be Mario using the Turbo F.L.U.D.D.!
 
Looks neat. Personally, I'm not fond of the level goal sign, either. Looks... messy. I'd probably suggest doing that and the life stock icon from scratch.

However, I also see you're debating on creating an AiAI WAD and a WAD containing SA2B style graphics, not to mention this one here. I'd suggest finishing one before even considering starting another, stretching yourself over 3 different projects isn't a fun thing to do. Especially considering the difficulty of creating the 180 or so frames needed for a complete character WAD, assuming the side views are mirrored. Otherwise, expect over 200 frames.
 
I've decided to make the Finish Sign and the Stock Icon by scratch, as Naga suggested. I'll make it the same, just with custom sprites. Same poses and everything. The Stock Icon will be my first step closer to Side-view sprites.

Something I'm wondering--- Should I do the front-diagonal, side, or back-diagonal angles first?
 
Um, where'd the "M" on his hat go? His eyes seem straight square.
About the outlining and his stance, I'd agree with Kyasarin. What he's trying to say is that the outline need to be a little darker, and his body parts look to close. try opening him up a little. I tried to fix him up a little.

You could use it as a reference, or use it if you want.
 

He looks too angry in that sprite. Nice on everything else, though.

Although If I used that, I would have to start ALL OVER again. Even if I only used it as a reference, I would have to redo all the shading and the face, and it would just be BLECH.
