Problem with hosting netgames

Hi. I've been trying to host a netgame over LAN, however, my name doesn't appear on the master server list, and if I try to connect directly, it tries to contact the server indefinitely.

I've opened port 5029 on my router (Netgear Router DG834GT, for reference), but it simply refuses to work.

Any ideas?

Try looking at the top Sticky in this section of the forum...it may help on why you can't host or connect.

Well, most internet connections dosen't use port 5029.

Ex: Verizon dosen't uses port 5029, I think it uses 6028 which dosen't connect to others very well.

Comcast automatically uses port 5029 which can easily connect to all users.

I don't know about vontage or AT&T and the others.

It's still possible to host but you will have to give them your IP adress so they can still join.

What service do you have?
