You may have noticed I haven't been on in a while. I had a lot of stuff to do. Anyway, I gotta ask: what would be the best linux for me? I'm a gamer and a code monkey, I have a pretty dang good computer, and I want to install it on a 7.87 gb external hdd. I've been googling for a LONG time and got no results.
I need help with getting linux.

Heh, Linux just gave me this a while ago...
Anyway, I'd recommend Slackware Linux. It's for quite advanced users and has a braindead package management, but trust me the latter is one of its strengths because if you wanna compile stuff from sources it doesn't bug you like Ubuntu and Fedora.
You can try BSD alternatively that's better and more consistent than Linux imho.
But how did you search for a long time and no tutorials about linux turned up? odd, I guess you didn't search at all :/
