It's like this:

alias shadow "bind z sonic; bind x silver; skin Shadow; color black"
Basically, the alias command allows you to make sub-commands sort of. For example, when you press the X key, it runs the shadow command, changing your character to Shadow, coloured black. But along with that, it binds the z key to the sonic command (where it switches you to Sonic) and the x key binded to the silver command. So when I switch to the sonic command, the z key gets binded to a tails command, while the x key gets binded to the shadow command.

Oh I know how to do that (I have a look backwards bind that works like that, as you do), but I was under the impression that yours worked regardless of what custom characters you had loaded. I guess not, heh. Sorry!

Movement (Strafing, I turn with the mouse.) - WASD
Jump - Space
Spin - Left Shift
Ringtoss/Ringtoss Normal - Left/Right mouse buttons, respectively.
Weapon Change - Mousewheel
Custom 1 - Q
Custom 2 - 2
Custom 3 - E
Tossflag - Middle mouse button (Clicking the wheel)

And the rest of it is set to their defaults.

Basically I've just mapped my Keyboard buttons onto my controller, except for the analog stick. The bindings on the topmost buttons (LB, RB, LT, RT) vary from gamemode and/or character. When I pick sylveon as my character I map RT to Custom 1 to make moonblasts comfortably, as an example.

Here is a little demonstration of my controller bindings. It works extremly well and I tend to use my Steam Controller more often than my kbd+mouse. With that said I do still use my mouse and keyboard for accuracies sake.

I use a standard WASD for movement and Space for jumping and control for spin.

The custom keys are scattered around my keyboard in a random fashion.

  • Forward - Up arrow, W
  • Reverse - Down arrow, S
  • Look Left - Left arrow
  • Look Right - Right arrow
  • Spin - Z
  • Jump - Space
  • Strafe Left - A
  • Strafe Right - D

Custom 3 - H

I just normally play with arrow buttons, but if I play shooting gamemode (match, tag, H&S, CTF), I use the mouse and WASD.

Standard WASD, but from there things get unconventional.

Shift - Spin
Space - Center View
Mouse 1 - Jump
Mouse 2 - Ring Toss
L - Toss Flag
Q and E and scroll wheel - Next and Previous Weapon

Everything else is default I think.
