Sadly, yes. Most manufacturers can't be bothered to install graphics hardware from more well-developed producers like nVidia or AMD/ATi, because it's cheaper to just use Intel's solutions, and most users wouldn't need the extra power anyway. The sad thing is, they're totally correct, and their actions are justified, as such.

It's why I don't buy pre-manufactured computers anymore; I'm not an average consumer, and building a desktop gives me a lot more control over what goes into it for relatively cheap. (That, and the last premanufactured desktop I bought had only PCI slots in it - in an era where AGP was the rage, and PCI-E was just getting warmed up. I couldn't even do an upgrade from the shitty Intel GPU it had. Utterly inexcusable.)
