I was trying to show that Sonic has a different route from the other two. I'm aware that those are bland. That's just where the route alteration happens to be. And to prove to you all that I put a HECK of a lot more effort than my 1P zones from NovDec07, look at this.

If I don't get lazy.

That looks like its going to be pretty awesome... despite the MMZ mush.
I assure you, I have some very good reasons for including multiple main textures in this.

Well...I guess I'll participate in this one too, in circuit division. No match this time. ;D

FFZ? Copied from DK64. Totally copied.
Funnily enough, I didn't know that it was copied until I played the game again...Yesterday.

I had already put my map up for the contest! It didn't get in last time so I thought that when this level design contest came, I could fix it up and finish it. There's a -1% chance out of 100% chance that I can win.

Stop being negative. Have some pride in your work. It takes alot to make something good, it takes more to make it better.

You can proably expect to see my version of Green Hill this contest. But I'm not saying what system it's from. (If you know what version I'm doing, don't spoil it here.) It will be including a custom Title Card as well as converted midis. (Converted to mp3)

I hope my advice on you topic helped you make a better level.

The Match division better watch out for...MY FIRST (Finished) MAP EVAR!

As-low bitrate as possible (~64kbps) Ogg Vorbis is definitely the way to go for SRB2 music, as well as looping. That's what I'm doing for the custom music in my contest map.

If this is your first map, 99.9% chance it will not win. Did you test it out in a netgame? Did you receive feedback? Did you put a lot of effort into implementing suggestions from feedback? If you did, then you have a better chance. Otherwise...-_-

However, don't be utterly discouraged by a low score. If you can even manage to get a 4 with your first map, that's good. A 4 doesn't mean a good map, but first maps are usually a LOT worse than that. My first custom map was...Cosmic Warehouse. It managed to have OpenGL-exclusive HOM, an awful rendering glitch that almost never happens. HOM is almost always Software-exclusive.

Ok then. :)

I plan on eventually making a circuit map, too. This time, it won't be a thokfest. Honestly, it's pretty sad that for a very long time, "thokfests are bad" was not listed in Level Design.

Still promoting thokfests, I see? Perhaps you'd like to incorporate some jumps into your level design.

Actually, people would probably be Crawla hopping...

Older screenshot, but yeah, where Sonic is standing is where the player enters the room, and there are enemies, so yeah...

By the looks of it, this may end up being a contest worthy of remembrance! So far, all of the maps look fantastic. I might even enter, since so many people already are showing signs of awesome competition...

We'll see if I can judge these levels since I don't have SRB2 at home yet. I'll have to convince the family that SRB2 has a place here. Since SonicMaster did that, so can I.

I think you're right there, Ash... I can't wait to play most of the maps here!!

Here are some screens for Mech Mountain Act 2 (some are old, and some are new):

The start:

The first main room (also the area shown for the Level Select screen):

Another big room:

The room with the rising slime, that rises when you press the big red button that's just off the left of the screenshot:
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj320/Monster_Iestyn/srb20015.png

The part I'm currently working on - the corridor with a long conveyor belt, lasers, and crushers:

A big room with lots of pipes:

Another big room with pipes, but ones that go up this time:

That's all the screens I'll give for now as it's not finished, and I don't want to spoil too much of the level...

The full rules of the contest are as follows:

Submissions are to be sent to my e-mail at FuriousFox@gmail.com.

Submissions need to have "Contest Submission - March/April" as the subject line, and contain the name of the stage, your nickname, and the contest you are submitting the map to in the e-mail body. If you do not give me a nickname, your e-mail's given name and e-mail address will be used to attribute the file. For multiple maps in one e-mail, make sure to put the information for each map included. I prefer attachments, but links in the body of the e-mail are also alright provided they are to your own webspace. No SendSpace, Rapidshare, or other similar file hosts. Files hosted on such servers will not be included.

Sorry if this is kind of a newbish question, but could you tell me what you mean by your own webspace? Please be spicific.
