After a few seconds of testing Ray seems to work just fine on the new Simple control scheme. If anyone runs into any issues please report them so I can fix them.
A couple notes from messing around with Ray's glide script on this version of the code:
If the new controls don't already set a Lua-detectable flag when they're active they should.
It'd be nice if there was a way to detect the user's input relative to the camera. Ray uses forwardmove and...
Okay, but only because I'm nice. (specifically this adds support for Lach's directionchar backport by disabling it during glides.)
The new version also disables Super Ray's multi-glide in the Match and Team Match gametypes since it gets a little silly there.
Technically not a bug, though it is an unfortunate side effect of multi-glide being a thing (there's a minimum speed when you start gliding, so if you keep starting a glide you maintain that speed). Might be a good idea to just disable multi-glide in match.
Finally got around to uploading a new version of this.
The new version contains all the features and bugfixes that went into getting SegaSonic Ray out the door, plus:
Updated wall collision code. Not perfect, but much faster and shouldn't crap out at high speeds
Actual not-broken 2D level...
Someone pasting Sonic Mania sprites over my Ray script doesn't really count (also you can't even download that wad anywhere).
On topic: I really like these MD2s! They make everything look really cohesive. Though it looks like there isn't a model/animation set for Toei Sonic's spindash charging.

This includes:
