I tried to keep thread going in hopes that I would find people who shared my opinions, and instead I found everybody disagreeing with me, laughing at me and finding reasons why I'm wrong. In the end, everybody seems to think negatively of me and they appear to be keeping things going without me...

I have difficulty reading unindicated sarcasm in text, regardless of how I look at it. It's something to do with my condition, which you should know about if you have looked at my profile page recently.

I repeatedly rephrase nearly everything I say to people IRL and I'm not entirely sure why, though I suspect it's because I might subconsciously feel the need to make my point as clear as possible. I've almost always unwillingly had my dreams end with something unbelievably horrifying or painful...

first of all, I'm not trying to "justify saying SMS has potential". Second, just because something isn't congruent with one game's design and/or completely counters it, doesn't make it irredeemable; someone just needs to try modding it into a significantly different game and see if it does...

From my personal experience, there's no such thing as something that has no potential, and anything can be at least partly redeemed, as long as it isn't evil-incarnate in every possible way. At least I'm trying not to be a complete pessimist about this.

I have a feeling that starting this thread was a huge mistake, because nearly everyone involved has just been extremely narrow-minded about their perspectives on the mere idea of SMS having even the slightest bit of potential, even if said potential is centered around things like helping people...

I'm thinking that most of this hatred of SMS should be directed towards the creator, rather than the character, because the character is an apparent product of the inadequacy of the ideas and skills of the creator. In other words, the real problem is the creator.

What I'm getting at is that parodies are unoriginal by default; they are created based on an at least slightly more original idea just to make fun of it, usually in a poorly done and uninformed way.

People here really seem to love to hate SMS. Now that I think about it, HMS was (intentionally) made to be even more unoriginal (and overpowered), being mostly based on SMS to begin with, so HMS being the "definition of unoriginal" would probably make more sense... Also, not everyone is skilled...

I understand that SMS is dated and lacking in unique abilities, which is why if anyone ever chooses to update him, they should add something to make him more unique and maybe improve the spritework.

What does all that have to do with any of this? I didn't say anything about his design, or even his concept! I was talking about graphics, gameplay and how he can be made to work with the game! I feel like the moment I say anything has potential, people start ranting about anything wrong they...
