    notSRB3

It could also be that people have just given up on the idea of a new engine. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it could explain the slightly tepid reaction to this. I guess that SRB2 has more or less matured to the "incremental update" phase.

Urgent Problem with my wad Level :(

This looks like a fairly standard case of the Hall of Mirrors effect, which shows up when you either don't have a wall or thok barrier around the level or are missing textures. If you don't already have a thok barrier, you'll need to create one. I can't remember if there's a method to make the...

Custom SOC Actions: Execute console commands?

I'd guess that it's because keeping track of the internal state to make that work is too much of a hassle when you can just make the state calling the executor last one tick and get the same effect. I guess that also partially explains the quirks with pushables and executors...

    Dedicated Server 24/7 Days

Oh; oops. I didn't know you could do it that way. That makes more sense. I figured I'd take a stab at it since there weren't any other answers yet, but I guess that didn't really work.

ArchPack v2.0 (scmrtf_archpack.wad + Parts pack) [Outdated version]

I just tried this out, and I liked it quite a bit. These are some of the best player-made stages I've seen. I'm glad you didn't go nuts with the Jetty-Syns. Those things can be incredibly annoying when overused. Keep up the good work!

Good point. The community does at least influence the developers, though, so my wording isn't completely wrong ;). I'll be sure to let you know. Once I get something vaguely near playable, I'll put it up online. Edit: I've probably hijacked this topic long enough. I'll stop now...

I didn't think that would happen, but sometimes you have to throw some potentially crazy ideas out there to keep things fresh. It doesn't mean I can't make my own Sonic fangame, though, and that's what I plan on doing (eventually). SRB2 is the only good 3D Sonic fangame I know, and I think it...

Well, I guess I look foolish, then. I thought that interpretation didn't seem right in context. I probably should have asked before I replied. The Source engine looks amazing, but there's the issue of licensing, and I've already written some generic engine-type code (not a full engine yet) that...

It would be more than just a source mod; it would be a completely new engine, written from the ground up. Think Sonic Adventure vs. Sonic Generations; they probably share almost no code. I assume you meant, "source mod," right? Otherwise I may have just made myself look somewhat foolish...

Actually, I was thinking about a completely new engine. It wouldn't even support .wad files ;).

You're probably right. I knew my suggestion would be a bit of a stretch, but I figured that consideration of the various possibilities isn't a bad idea, even if most of those possibilities are (correctly) rejected. I still need to figure out what to do with my code. I guess SRB2 could use a...

Personally, I'd love to see SRB2 get a mesh-based engine. It could open up a lot of level design possibilities. I'm not sure if the community wants to go that direction, but it could be a good subject for at least a short discussion. I have some code that could be useful for a mesh-based...

So I'm kinda stuck on Port Forwarding.

It depends on which IP address you want to be static. You can't typically set your Internet IP to be static; the ISP controls that. However, you do want your computer's LAN IP to be static so you don't have to keep changing your port forwarding settings. You have to set that up on both your...

    Dedicated Server 24/7 Days

If you have your ports set up correctly, you should be able to run SRB2 and go to Multiplayer->Host Game. I can't remember the exact details, but http://http://wiki.srb2.org/wiki/Multiplayer should provide the info you need. From there, it's just a matter of keeping your computer on and...

I was working on an SP level for this OLDC, but it's not nearly as far along as I'd like, so I'll probably save it for the next one. It's my first real attempt at a map, so progress isn't especially quick because I'm learning as I go.

Name of the C++ Project file for SRB2?

Which C++ compiler are you using? It sounds like Code::Blocks either is set to use the wrong compiler or can't find the one you're using.

Name of the C++ Project file for SRB2?

Anything that works for C++ should work for C. I often use Code::Blocks; since SRB2 already has a project file for it, it looks like a good fit.

    Metal Robotnik Model?

That's probably what happened. I'm glad I don't have that many PMs. SSNTails' earlier post: makes me think that Mystic is the right person to contact, but I might have misunderstood him. If he meant, "ask Mystic to fix it" instead of, "ask Mystic if I can fix it," I might have to contact...

    Metal Robotnik Model?

Hmm... Does anyone know if Mystic checks his PMs? I haven't heard anything from him yet. Hopefully he'll see this thread... Also, if anyone else knows where I can find the model, I could fiddle with it before I hear back from Mystic and get some idea of what might be done to improve it.

My first level: Little Canyon Cave

I've done a little updating on the map, but it's nowhere near finished. I was originally planning to enter this into the OLDC, but I'm not sure if I can get it ready in time. I might wait until the next one, or I might just cut it short and enter it to get some feedback. At least it's not a rush...
